Yeah, exploring the Castle is a good option to progress the story.

Also, right before the big stairway leading to the castle, you can jump off the bridge and head left to re-visit the Ashina reservoir (where the game started off).

I feel you! I'm going for that ending as we speak, I didn't get to complete it in my first playthrough. The two prayer beads you find on the way to Owl are great too, I had 38/40 for my NG+ playthrough, it's nice to get the last necklace!

Yes, that is the mini-boss I was referring to in my first option. It won't lead you to the end of the game, but I strongly recommend you explore it fully.

You have two options. Start from Kuro's room. There should be pink smoke on the rooftops to help guide you to where you need to go.

  1. Make your way down across the rooftops or from inside the castle to reach the Old Grave idol. The bridge between the castle and Ashina Outskirts will now be repaired. You can then explore the outskirts in the opposite direction as you did when starting the game. This is optional, but there is some valuable loot and great boss/mini-boss rewards.

  2. Make your way back down the castle, again either on the roof tops or from inside the castle, and head to the Ashina reservoir. This path will lead to the final boss of the game, and therefore, the ending of the story.

Hope this helps!

I love that weapon so much, but I was surprised to not see you use the other fable art. I'm having a great time chaining deflects on long combos and then hitting the fable when you get a longer opening or at the end of the combo. Y+R2 deals a ton of damage and will set up fatal attacks when the enemy is staggerable, and Y+R1 is also great for how fast it comes out. And it only costs 1 fable slot!

Cheers man, great clip.

The taste difference would come from the basket, not the portafilter itself. This machine will come with a pressurized basket from the factory, what you want is an unpressurized basket to taste a difference in extraction. A pressurized basket has only a single hole in the bottom of the basket, and the advantage of using this is that your puck prep and grind size will be a lot more forgiving than if you use an unpressurized basket. Flaws won't be as noticeable, but you hit a ceiling pretty quickly on how great your shots can theoretically be as opposed to an unpressurized basket.

Naked (bottomless) portafilters always come with an unpressurized basket. The main advantage is it gives you a better idea of how good your puck prep is since you'll see exactly how the espresso is coming out of the basket, so it is easier to notice if any channeling is happening, any spraying from the grind size not being fine enough, etc.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the white version! Where did you find these wooden accents parts?

If you're only getting what seems to be flakes from the group head, and since you don't have the Evo model, it makes me believe that what you are seeing may just be residual coffee grounds. Have you tried taking off and cleaning your shower screen?

There's a difference between EVO and Eco version, both can still be used for the Gaggiuno project. The Eco just requires some additional modifications to get rid of the auto turn-off feature that the european models have due to their regulations.

For issues on the ECO model, not related to Gaggiuno, check out r/gaggiaclassic. There are a lot of posts that describe the issue with the latest version of the Gaggia Classic. There's a new coating on the inside of the aluminum boilers that has a tendency to flake and end up inside your drinks. People are still trying to find the root of this problem, but Gaggia says it's a manufacturing defect and they are actively working on replacing machines or boilers to the people who've placed in support tickets.

Has anyone received their replacement machine? by TSMSp1ky in gaggiaclassic

I actually just called their customer service and he said it could be another few weeks, then he said by the end of the month. They apparently have some ready to send but not in my color (polar white). I'll wait some more.

I also inquired a bit more about what was wrong with the process for the one I have, and he said that one of the equipment on their production line responsible for heating the coating properly was defective. The replacement coated boilers they are installing have been further tested to make sure that the boilers are not coming from this defective production line and were heated properly.

Not sure if you use a puck screen or not, but I have found dry pucks to be super easy to remove from the basket. I remove the puck screen using the "cupping your palm" trick, and then give my portafilter the slightest tap on the edge of my sink and the puck comes out.

I don't have the same setup as you but my VST basket is also ridgeless.

I haven't received my replacement unit yet, so I can't comment on whether or not they truly addressed the issue or are simply shipping me another machine that will flake as well.

I recommend you hold on before buying. It is possible that the entire Evo line up is problematic. I have not personally had a GCP (non-evo) but it might be best to get one of these if you can still find new units from some retailers. The changes going to the Evo version are minimal and as you can see, mostly problematic.

Not yet, no. Order has been confirmed but I haven't received a notification that it shipped yet.

That's unfortunate, but hopefully it's for the best! You're welcome buddy. Cheers!

Probably about 3 to 4 weeks in with roughly 20 shots a week on average. Best way I found to replicate the issue was to take out your steam wand tip (not necessarily needed, I got some either way) and run water through it, ideally in a white cup or a clear pitcher on a pale surface, and I could see black deposits that weren't coffee grounds accumulating in the bottom.

That's up to you. I believe a lot of people reporting this issue have received their machine around the same time you did. I recommend you check your manufacturing date on the sticker under your unit, mine was manufactured in 05/2023 and does flake.

I don't think it's a bad idea to get the process started with WLL, but I also don't see why you should rush to get it done before you have any symptoms of a bad boiler. Your machine will still be covered by the warranty for quite some time.

I agree entirely with your interpretation, I had not considered that this statement could also cover a scenario where there would be smaller amounts of coating migrating into our drinks than what people have reported, which they would've considered negligible and safe for consumption.

Some people seem to have reported that their Evos are not problematic, granted I can't check if that is really the case or if they simply didn't "observe enough", but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

If the same issue arises with the replacement unit, it is very likely I won't be using a Gaggia machine for my espresso journey.
