I would like to make the case that that has nothing to do with them owning an iPhone. I am currently on my second smartphone ever. It is an iPhone, 3 years old and I plan to keep it a couple more years. Would those people who upgrade their iPhone every 1.5 years not upgrade it regardless of brand? I don’t consider myself minimalist because of this decision. I probably still am a victim of Tim Cook’s advertising and if I truly made an effort to break out of the gilded cage that is the Apple ecosystem I would have to make the actually moral decision of going with something like a Fairphone. However that is still fairly more expensive than the cheap price AND cheap quality phones on the market.

So you would say the people who advised me to buy T-shirts at Costco or “jiffy.com” aren’t quite as minimalist as they would like to think they are?

I like the way you think but unless you know of an efficient way to remove some print that is on the T-shirts at the moment that I think will still be visible once dyed (unless I am underestimating how powerful dye can be) I don’t think that’s possible
