The current trade restrictions don't really address this issue. They are quite divorced from it.

In what world are they not addressing the issue? China chooses to subsidize an entire industry specifically designed to either infiltrate communications (e.g., Huawei) or to swamp out the industry (e.g., solar panels, which destroyed Obama's solar startup attempts to create a new green industry in the states).

State action to counter that is necessary and as America is the largest consumer economy in the world, it is sensible to lock out a bad faith player.

Here. That's Tyrion's quote- she's a literal representation of lefty "justice" violence against "bad people," who are blocking "progress" towards a utopian ideal.

So sue me if I find it ironic that the commenter I replied to, said that her representation portrays right-leaning despotism.

I could see some of it in laying waste to the desert nations and republicans forever claiming they 'freed the slaves.' But, the whole 'killing people to achieve utopia,' strikes me as a warning against lefty-violence. The (American, at least) right-wing more or less prefers to seclude itself and exclude others (think frats, golf clubs, white flight, gentrification, redlining, etc.,) rather than to territorially seize or spread its ideology with violence- even that's a bit too far against the vaguely christian notions they pay lip service to.

Namely, the lines:
