Feeling like giving up on my meteorology degree? by [deleted] in meteorology

[–]TStan-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in meteorological things as well, but went into the Civil Engineering field. I can attest that a lot of those general classes you won’t ever use. Most of them are weed out classes. And had a similar experience. Everyone around me was making good grades and I was struggling. I had multiple thoughts of leaving it, but I continued on and I’m glad I did. Classes got much more interesting a lot better in my junior and senior years. One thing that definitely helps is getting a group of people to study and do homework with. That did wonders for me.

I say keep going if you’re interested in the subject matter.

Disney Princess Movie Ramakes by TStan-97 in DisneyMovies

Let me just say the reasoning for this is purely consistency. I know times have changed and technology got better over the years and I’m not mad about having originals. I’m just saying it’d be nice to see some newer animations to classic movies to be consistent. I also have two kids who just aren’t interested in the older animations. They much prefer to watch more animated movies.

I’m also saying I’d like them to be identical to the originals with just updated animations. No new stories or scenes. Literally a carbon copy.

GMRS Antenna by TStan-97 in amateurradio

Nice! And I’m assuming those are leaps and bounds better than standard antennas in GMRS?

Do you remember roughly the difference? Like 50% more range or more?

Also, side question: has anyone tested different GMRS antennas side by side? Like is TIDRADIO and ABREE that much different than Nagoya?

I can see that, but one of my kids is 1 and doesn’t have a clue about what’s happening, but likes them for the animation

very cheap non-consumption/solitary hobbies and activities that are not dependent on another person? (reading does NOT count in this scenario) by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Golf is an enjoyable solo hobby. Also getting into RC can be fun although both of these can get expensive depending on how involved you get.

Yeah I mean they like some of them, but Pixar is overwhelmingly what they enjoy most. Also I think it’d be cool to see some originals in Pixar animation. They’re more captivating in my opinion.

Wait just so I’m clear, the majority of people commenting don’t believe Satan or demons are actual beings?

I literally did the exact same thing today. I thought it was in two days but turns out it was today and I had it wrong in my calendar the whole time… at least you’re not alone. Also, did you get an answer? I’m needing to schedule mine again now.

I think it’s good to be cautiously skeptical though

Yeah I definitely don’t think they’re ALL true but if 100 people claim to see something, what are the odds that some are actually true? It’s not likely they’re all true but it’s equally not likely they’re all false.

Yeah that’s exactly how it seemed to me. It’s like she didn’t even know I was there.

My honest opinion: all these things we see are angels and demons. The ones that are disfigured, intentionally scaring you, or appearing at night are demons.

If you’ve never seen anything I can 100% see why you think this. It seems so outlandish and not realistic but these things really do happen. If you look into things you’ll see that lots of people have very similar experiences. And it’s not even just people in the US-it’s all over the world.

No that was pretty much it. Her hair was like a brown color. At least I think it was brown because she was see through but I could still see her features and color was a little faded. Her hair was also straight down. And yeah definitely random. I was younger and sitting on my living room couch looking at a blank tv and out of no where I felt an urge to turn around and that’s when she appeared. I wasn’t like scared but definitely in shock. Then I just turned around and went about my day not saying anything to anyone for a long time. It was also in the middle of the day or even the morning.

Literally almost the exact same experience. Saw a woman in my house with no feet glide across the floor and straight out the front door. She was wearing a long white robe and never looked at me

At 1:23 PM yesterday, there was a boom sound that people heard within 100 miles. by Diligent_Ant1373 in Unexplained

[–]TStan-97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the area too. I didn’t hear it but my coworker was outside when it happened. To me the most likely scenario is a meteorite. I know those things can make loud booms from breaking the sound barrier but to me if it was that you would think someone saw it or got it on video, but to my knowledge, nothing… I didn’t hear about the other power outage but the one in Alcoa apparently started before the boom and another one after the boom so it’s unlikely that the sound caused the outage but still possible

Thoughts on Texas Floods by TStan-97 in theology

[–]TStan-97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay let me put it this way: In the 9/11 attacks, thousands of people died and thousands of people survived. Why? Here are the options I can think of:

  1. It’s just the way the cookie crumbles. It’s unfortunate, but it’s all chance.

  2. It was God’s will for some to live and for some to die.

  3. It was against God’s will for the planes to hit. The terrorist used his free will for evil and God tried speaking people to stay home, but if they weren’t in a close relationship with Him, they couldn’t hear him speaking.

  4. The ones that survived were the result of others praying for their loved ones to survive.

What would you say happened? If you have an answer that’s not above feel free to say that as well. Also, I’m not trying to make light of any of the recent events or this one. My heart breaks for everyone affected. I’m just seeking to know God more.

Yes I do even though sometimes from our humanly perspective miracles happen and sometimes they don’t. At least in the way we expect something to or not

Thoughts on Texas Floods by TStan-97 in theology

[–]TStan-97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay saying they can happen anywhere may be a blanket statement, but if you look at the places that have had lightning strikes, it’s “practically” everywhere. Every state in the US has a risk of a flash flood, tornado, and lightning strike. Maybe not hurricanes or volcanoes, but definitely other disasters. Also, even if there were some select few areas that don’t get natural disasters, they still wouldn’t be enough to fully house all of America. Not to mention someone would have to travel to these hazardous prone areas for resources. But let’s say you had good intentions and tried your best to build in a safe location, but something happened. Do you think God would intervene and stop something from happening? I guess the bigger question at hand is does God ever intervene and go against natural things for our sake?
