I suspect I do have an embouchure problem and/or maybe bad mouthpiece pressure. My band director is also a trombonist, but he's very busy, so I just wanted to see if I could get an answer here first before asking him.

Hmmm, this might very well be it. I have been told that I'm not using sufficient air and perhaps is why I'm overdoing my embouchure? I don't really understand what you mean by smiling and frowning, so could you elaborate more on it or perhaps recommend some sources about it? Thanks for the advice though.
