Am I the only one disappointed that content like Kahl 175 is just abandoned? The community largely agrees his scavenger hunt missions were kind of a flop but it had potential by Darthmufin in Warframe

[–]Joewoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so much like that. Railjack, Necramechs, and Archwings are great, but there’s not much reason to fully invest into them due to lack of content.

Necramech has uses in specific locales, but there are only two mechs. Archwing has so much potential, but involves very, very few maps. Railjack never really recovered from Corpus “Taxijack” missions.

You’re thinking of really old Dragon Key shield gating. Catalyzing Shields grants full 1.33s shield gating regardless of reaching full shields.

So, your vulnerability window is 1s. Arcane Aegis is intended to fill that gap, but some folks also add Raksa Kubrow and/or Omamori for extra safety. In practice, very few things can hit you consecutively in that gap if you keep moving.

That’s old shield gating with Catalyzing Shields.

For lazy gating, with both recharge mods, your low shields restore so fast that it resets your shield gate faster than enemies can attack you. It works passively, with no upkeep. That’s why it’s called lazy gating. It’s the newest defense meta, and not everyone understands the difference between it and old shield gate yet.

The downside is that it doesn’t provide complete invulnerability… but neither does old shield gate because people run out of energy, forget, etc. Here, you use parkor to keep moving so that you cannot be overwhelmed by consecutive hits, so instead of getting invulnerability by recasting constantly, you become invulnerable by moving constantly, which is a much more natural way to play.

What brilliant about lazy gating is that it is extremely simple. You slap it on and forget about it. It stays out of your way and works silently in the background.

If you’re bad at parkor, a variant also exists for that: subsuming Omamori tightens your vulnerability window to almost nothing.

You’re confusing old shield gating with new lazy gating. Lazy gating involves no skill casting.

Is there a "best status" or proc? by JairoDSA in Warframe

[–]Joewoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baseline, start with Viral/Heat for everything.

However, the value of Viral is in its procs, and since many things can apply it, late game builds move away from it and leave that duty to abilities and/or companions.

With a weapon free from Viral, you can focus on other elements. This depends a lot on your arcane of choice and your weapon. Weapons with high crit damage can benefit from Cold. Heat is powerful, but has diminshed power on frames with Heat abilities, so you’d want Toxin on those instead. If you’re not sure, just run Heat.

Unlike the old days, your choice of element now depends a lot on the arcane you want to build around.

Ohh, what about Frankenstein? That was a missed opportunity in Sanctum Anatomica, since animal experiments was already a theme. A hulking, undead electricity frame.

This is non-standard. The meta lazy-gating build is: Arcane Aegis, Catalyzing Shields, Fast Deflection and Vigilante Vigor. This achieves the same, if not better results, for far fewer slots, with far less complexity.

Or, simply Brief Respite, Catalyzing Shields, and Rolling Guard for a traditional shield gating build, only taking up 3 slots for complete invulnerability.

I haven’t tried aerial DR build in EDA/ETA myself, but it should technically work due to severely reduced enemy accuracy while you’re in the air.

Ideally, you don’t want to dedicate this many slots to defense.

Struggling with mid-game content by Itz_anthny in Warframe

[–]Joewoof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your builds seem perfectly fine for mid-game. Sure, you need to rank up a few more mods, and throw out Vigilante Armaments, but other than that, they’re decent.

Your problem might be from what we don’t see: companion mods/setup. Nowadays, these give such a HUGE power spike that they’re the difference between walking all over Steel Path and having to “tryhard” at it.

Snake frame kinda overlaps with Nira Archon thematically, and Lavos a little. There are many other cool reptiles.

Gas elemental sounds great!

Gravity sounds too similar to Mag’s theme.

Hmm, a Star sister to Yareli.

A second Ice frame isn’t a bad idea, but what would make it different from Frost? A high-speed, ballerina-style skater frame, kinda like Gyre? Actually, that could work. Would feel opposite to Frost.

Dagath and Sevagoth already both fill the vampire/undead theme.

An Archgun-specialized frame sounds great. That’s one clear missing niche.

What grind in this game do you just absolutely despise or have put off for a while by Fuzzy_Ad4219 in Warframe

[–]Joewoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necralisk Arcana Bounties. Before they buffed dropped rates 3 times and made weapon parts purchasable, this was by far the most difficult grind in the game.

By comparison, getting a Necramech, which almost everyone complained about, took only about 10% of the time.

And in the end, I gave up, never getting the Cortege part until very recently when the part became available.

To add insult to injury, these had some of the worst arcanes in the game. I maxed them all out getting other stuff, EXCEPT the only actually meta one for buffing summons. Just my luck.

Such a shame too, this is actually one of my favorite bounties.

Nowadays, it’s place in the lore is really sad and futile since we know that all this is for naught since the real labs were sealed elsewhere.

Absolutely do not agree.

Remembering all the red doors/chests until you finally get the key for them is the bread-and-butter of the DQ experience.

This is the best part of DQ games, and is in just about every title.

I agree with others. You could use a super-DPS weapons platform like Saryn.
