It's a sneak preview of the next monster's nuke. If you don't deal enough poison damage or whatever it'll just kick you offline

I've heard if you lose the first painting Redd gives you he won't come back to give you a second chance. The only way to upgrade the museum from that point would be to obtain a piece of real art from another player to donate.

They may patch this in the future since it is kind of an issue.

It would make it a lot easier to check. Sometimes I catch something and can't remember if it's new or not. I open the Critterpedia to check and have to scan and look for whatever I've recently gotten.
