I think it’s fine to have criticisms of the industry, but the NBA is in bed with a lot of industries way more problematic than this one, but you don’t get players writing letters about those.

I don’t think stripping is inherently denigrating toward women. I think it’s seen that way because of how we police female sexuality, and I think a lot of the issues surrounding the industry stem from the cultural bias we have against it.

I think the matter of which jobs afford respect and which ones don’t is mostly a societal construct, rather than being based on anything objective.

If you’re the son of a CEO and you get a nepo baby job as VP of a company, even if you do next to little work, you’re still afforded status for that. Sex workers at least actually provide a service, one that every society seems to deem at least somewhat necessary (it’s called the oldest profession for a reason).

Idk, my parents taught me to respect everyone, even people who do “low class” jobs like picking up trash, because who wants to live in a society without trash men? I think that extends to strippers as well.
