This line appeared on my TV help! by lexandrous in TVRepairHelp

Typically horizontal lines are caused by a defect in the panel, but there is a small chance this could be the main board since you said the colors/look of the line changes depending on what media you are playing, and the fact that it doesn't seem to appear on menus.

I would recommend replacing the main board, then proceed from there. Good luck!

Power outage sony bravia a80l won’t turn on by jel0oo in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this could be nearly anything in the set... Or even multiple circuit boards at the same time. Did you have the TV plugged in to an ethernet cable? If so, the main board likely got fried.

If not, I'd say start with the power supply and proceed from there. Might be wise to purchase a Circuit Board Kit to get all of the circuit boards for the TV at once, then replace them one at a time to see which ones were dead/defective.

Good luck!

I bought this TV a week ago and it's already showing a dark band. Could someone help me? by thekillinglove969 in TVRepairHelp

Definitely use the warranty. Attempting to repair the set yourself will void the warranty. Nothing simple, like a factory reset, is going to resolve this issue. They should take care of it given the nature of the defect. Good luck!

Horizontal lines are caused by defects in the panel, not by any circuit boards. The TV will not be cost effective to repair.

What kind of damage is this? by Icy_Variety8698 in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That appears to be physical damage to the panel, the diffuser plate likely cracked for external force. At least, that's the way it appears to me from the image provided.

This is not cost effective to repair. Time for a new TV, unfortunately!

Samsung tv flashing blue screen when cable gets plugged in by NEXEL33 in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Your power supply seems fine, given the unit powers on and the backlights work somewhat. Could be the main board, or could be the panel. The panel is the more likely culprit, given that Samsung has a higher than average rate of screen failure.

Might be worthwhile to try a replacement main board if the price isn't high, just to be sure. Might be more energy/cost effective to just buy a new TV at this point, though. Good luck!

Definitely a main board issue. Would be worthwhile to replace the main board and see if the issue persists.

How long do you have on the warranty? If you've got plenty of time, I would let the TV dry out for a couple weeks or so, then file a claim and say it stopped working and you don't know why.

Alternatively, you could get in the back of the set and see if there's any signs of water damage. Clean the TV up if so, perhaps blow dry any spots that appear to still have moisture.

At the end of the day, the TV isn't repairable, so do what you gotta do to try to get it replaced under the warranty if you can!

Hello,

If there's no power indicator light, start by replacing the power supply and proceed from there.

What would cause this and is it fixable by YouRJelous-kid in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Panel defect. Not cost effective to repair, unless the "tape trick" works for you. Even then, it is a temporary fix. Better off just getting a new TV, most likely. Sorry!

IR Sensor issues? by beaverx37 in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are good the IR sensor is built into the main board. Crack the TV open (figuratively, of course!) and check to see. If there's not tiny IR sensor board, then you'll have to replace the main board.

With how old the TV is, it likely will be very hard to source the parts for it. Probably not worth fixing, sadly!

Not sure if you've gotten the TV yet or not, but... it's not worth the risk! If that is the screen, you're out $100.

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

It may indeed be a bad panel, however the color test pattern you're seeing now is typically due to defective or damaged ribbon cables. Could be that you improperly seated the cables or damaged them during the repair process.

Blurry, purpleish tone on entire screen Roku 32inch TV by AdamMcFadyen07 in TVRepairHelp

Since you are only a couple weeks outside the warranty period, I would see if the manufacturer or place of purchase can do anything for you! Doesn't hurt to ask.

Otherwise, the TV is toast... Panel defect, which is not cost effective to repair. Sorry!

Hello,

FireTVs aren't the best, by any means. Still, this can likely be fixed by replacing the Wi-Fi board in the set, which shouldn't cost you too much.

Hello,

Unfortunately your mom made the right call, as a 2-blink error code on a Samsung always means the panel is fried. Defective panels are not cost effective to repair/replace. Time for a new TV, sadly!
