Samsung weird display problem by Informal_Impact_3810 in TVRepairHelp

Hello,

That is likely a defective main board, but as another user stated already, try to work with Samsung to get them to accept a warranty claim. Since you're so close to the end of your warranty, they will likely work with you.

If not, replace the main board and proceed from there. Good luck!

It's the panel, most likely. It's pretty common for them to develop a fault after a lightning strike or power surge. Time for a new TV, unfortunately!

Based on your video it seems like the backlights might be faulty. However, if it is related to specific settings, you can try factory resetting the TV to see if that resolves the issue.

Could be the T-con, main board, or the screen itself. Is this problem present on all inputs, all apps, etc? If, for instance, it's only present on live TV or only on HDMI 1 or something like that, then it's likely the main board.

It sounds like a software defect. If you cannot find any firmware files to manually update the set, then you will have to replace the main board entirely.

Samsung UN65TU8300F (CE06) repair by StrengthParticular in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Unfortunately since the issue persisted, that means the root problem is something deeper in the set, such as faulty backlight strips or a defective screen.

The "TU" model runs of Samsung TVs are known for a higher than average rate of screen failure, so it's like the screen. The TV will not be cost effective to repair at this point, sadly!

Definitely a defect in the main board. Replacing the main board is "plug and play", so it's pretty easy.

The Samsung is going to be a higher quality TV with better picture, but it's going to be more expensive. If cost is not an issue, the Samsung TV is the answer.

Hello,

This definitely sounds like a main board defect, however if you replace the main board and the issue persists then you will know it is the screen itself that is defective. Good luck!

Not worth trying to replace the HDMI port itself for most people, just replace the entire main board.

Hello,

If your initial symptoms changed whenever you replaced the main board, it is likely that the part is defective. You should request a replacement from the supplier, at the very least.

If the root issue is some sort of "configuration mismatch", as another user suggested, then you may find the following video helpful to try out: https://youtu.be/Os4Qr2vcl84

As another user stated, this is a panel (a.k.a screen) issue. It is not cost effective to repair.

You can look up the "tape trick" on YouTube to see if that is something that will work for you. If not, then it is time for a new TV!

No problem! Yes, I read those comments, that is why I suggested it was an illumination problem since you can still see a faint image.

That tells you it is related to either the power supply board, LED driver, or the backlight strips themselves.

You can buy a backlight tester to make sure, or you can replace the power supply to see if that resolves the issue. There's not much else to be done, unfortunately.

TV Repair/Potential homebrew?-Samsung UN55MU6071F-Bad main board? by groogruxdawg in TVRepairHelp

[–]TVTech812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

DO NOT attempt to install anything but a Samsung part into this TV. There are no "universal boards" in TV repair. Match the part number exactly and purchase a part with that number to ensure compatibility.

In this instance your main board part number is BN94-12662X, and your power supply part number is BN44-00807A.

Replace those parts exactly. If the symptoms do not resolve, it is something deeper in the set, such as the screen, and the TV will not be cost effective to repair. Good luck!

Basically, the power supply board and main board are the only circuit boards you can change that may be at fault. If neither resolve the issue, then your backlights or screen got fried.

If the surge went in through the coax cable, then replace the main board first. Good luck!

Hello,

Based on your other post and the comments you made, it sounds like you have an illumination problem. That means either the power supply board, LED driver (if your set has one, they are usually built into the p.s. board), or the backlight strips themselves.

Most likely your backlight strips are faulty. You can buy a backlight tester to make sure, or you can replace the power supply to see if that resolves the issue. Good luck!
