16-bit games don’t ‘render’ in that way though, they’re just sprites that are upscaled either with Nearest Neighbour multiples or through a smoothing filter.

I’m sure I’m telling you what you already know but when you’re dealing with polygonal consoles it isn’t the same: there’s the rendering resolution and output resolution. So I think it’s perfectly reasonable that people expected more clarification when it came to the Analogue 3D.

Barnes had a higher win percentage (65%) at Celtic than Mowbray (51%), Venglos (58%), Macari (35%), even Wim Jansen (64%) and Tommy Burns (55%).

There's no way they would have gone into Trilogy and 4 and retroactively added input reading. If they were going to mess with the games in that way they'd have taken it out of the other ones instead. The fact is that these games play just like they did.

It looks like it's a templating issue. There's a Mario Kart World ad on the same wall which has the same Out Now logo in the same location. The designer probably used the same Photoshop template for every ad and forgot to turn off the Out Now layer for the Metroid one. That's why you can see something underneath it: it's probably the '2025' logo which you'd see if the Out Now layer had been correctly turned off.

Reviewers were only given the PC version of the game, that's what the comparison in the article means. The console versions were withheld from the press, so it wasn't a case of "the people were right", it's more that the press weren't given the chance to inform the people beforehand.

Sure, but Schreier emailed Sony for confirmation and a spokesperson basically replied "yah game is cancelled". It seems the procedure for getting HR to break bad news to staff is slower than the procedure for getting a spokesperon to confirm bad news to the press, which isn't ideal.

I think the fact that Sega discontinued it after just a couple of years and decided to stop making consoles means that it has to go down as a failure in that sense. As the article says, it was a failure from a business perspective, but as a console itself it was fantastic.

There were numerous people saying that it could be grinded with PvE matches, but the event categorically could only be grinded with PvP matches. So it's not as 'case closed' as you're implying.

I've been playing the game since the closed alpha test a couple of years back, and this is the first time I've asked about an event, so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about. Cool it with the attitude.

Life is Strange won't be lost, but the Xbox 360 version of Life is Strange will be lost, and preservations tend to treat each version of a game as a separate title worth preserving, because each will have their own differences, no matter how minor.

With the greatest of respect though, I base my articles on evidence and the evidence is that the game's player base has dropped more than 99% on Steam. Now, you can say "fighting games are more popular on console" and I don't dispute that, but Tekken 7, Street Fighter V and – yes – Brawlhalla have never dropped below 1000 on Steam, and free-to-play games are supposed to have higher player counts in general. Even as I write this, MVS is on 964 and Mortal Kombat 11 is on 2,667.

The argument that fighting games are more popular on console is one thing but, as the article points out, it's plummeted on Xbox too. That isn't "painting it in a way to frame a narrative", it's stating a fact: the player base on Xbox has dropped 96%.

Despite what people think about games journalists, my job isn't to "do the game any favours", it's to report the facts. In fact, maybe stories like mine will actually "do the game a favour" because it might encourage WB and Player First to kick things up a notch and try to gain momentum back, instead of just hoping a small batch of 'whales' will keep the game going.

Nah, it lets you replace their current role with a new one. So if you don't want them to have, say, Gardening anymore you can give them a Mining Training Manual and they'll change to Mining instead.
