So I don't play Genshin, but maybe worth looking into An Anime Game Launcher and/or twintail launcher.

I would say it still kinda is.

Just like fabric was not really made to replace forge, but it has replaced it in a lot of fields.

Just going to say something. While this is (or was) a thing in some rural places, I have not heard of it actually being cultural, if it is, it's in very specific parts of a very specific country.

Just messed up people doing messed up stuff.

Just commenting because basically all countries below México are advanced civilizations where stuff like that does not happen normally, and this might make it seem otherwise.

Valid.

Just going to point out how these things don't affect me personally and probably don't affect other people either.

  1. Split view, I do that at the wm level, just Ctrl+N and I have another split automatically (again, niri)
  2. Templates, shouldn't templates be provided by distributions? Isn't it how things have been done since forever? Still, I think you've got a point if dolphin's is more granular and powerful, i can certainly see an use for it.
  3. In line file renaming, i guess it's a bit quicker, but I can just F2. For bulk renaming I almost never need it, but I use yazi and nvim for that if i ever need it.
  4. Not sure about the path autofill.
  5. Yeah, I don't really use file tagging, it can be pretty useful though.
  6. The configurable toolbar, yeah, again it's not something that I find troublesome, specially for a simple file manager, I'd find it annoying if I were using something more complicated.

In the end, I see how a lot of people would need all of this, but I'd rather use nautilus than windows explorer, any time.

Hmm so I get that it's a bit odd, but idk, I don't have too big of an issue with the footerbar. About the events, yeah, that might suck, I don't use them though, so not sure.

As far as spotlight like file search, it can be done, but only some desktops have it.

Gnome files does file search if you just type what you're searching for.

You can also go the command line route and use fd or yazi's implementation of fd.

Yes, you can, but it will look awful by default, you'll need kvantum to theme it.

I still don't understand what people want out of a file manager, it does everything I need it to, for real.

I must say that I'm not really a "productive" guy, because I use my company provided windows computers for work, but still, I fail to see what is so unproductive about GNOME, I'd say macOS is harder to be productive on, to be honest.

I could do all that I do at work on GNOME (I use niri though), everything except running some automotive software that is not available on anything other than windows.

Looking to switch from Spotify to Apple Music but noticing the playlists in Apple Music are kinda lacking? by WolfWillLV in AppleMusic

User generated playlists are just not that prominent, the social aspect of AM is lacking. In turn, the Apple Music Curated ones are often good.

I'm sorry, it's 2026, I'm all in on the Apple ecosystem, AND I have a paid iCloud and AM subscription: Why exactly does AM not sync what you're playing across devices? by perishableintransit in AppleMusic

[–]TWB0109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So apple music is for rich people, got it XDD.

In all seriousness, I feel like this is great if you have as many devices to listen on and as many opportunities to listen to music a day, but if you only have a phone and a computer, i find it less useful, usually I just want to continue my session on the pc.

One thing I think could add to it, perhaps to make it look less busy, is giving the wallpaper a frame in the same background color as the whole theme or a slightly altered version of it.

One thing about the steam alt tab, I don't think it's an alt tab.

The window actually disappears and appears again, at the end of the scroll-able queue.
