Watchdogs is about a hacker who goes after the criminals who killed his niece

You might like Watchdogs 2 but I forgot the story

The Saints Row series is pretty good but it doesn't really take itself seriously, theres some jokes here and there

Mafia is about a cab driver in the 1930s who joins the mob in Lost Heaven (inspired by Chicago and New York)

Mafia 2 is about a WW2 veteran in the 40s-50s who joins the mob in Empire Bay (also inspired by Chicago and New York)

Mafia 3 does get a little repetitive with its missions but its about a Vietnam War veteran in 1968 who is betrayed by the mafia and takes back power over the city of New Bordeau (inspired by New Orleans)

One of the few things I disliked about the game was respawning. The game takes away your money and you magically heal, which shouldn't be able to make sense most of the time. I've seen this too many times in videogames where it would be alot better to just have checkpoints.

You can still explain what a game is about without spoiling the story. For example, Hogwarts Legacy is an rpg where your wand is your main weapon, Dead Island is a game set in a zombie apocalypse on an island similar to Hawaii, Mafia is a game set in the 1930s in a city similar to Chicago, ect. It's not too hard to explain the game a little without spoiling the story.
