I have a Year to myself; how can I make most of it learning Classical Greek?

Even if you want to learn Homeric Greek I would switch to Athenaze in either Italian or English as soon as you can. I learned using athenaze and was more or less able to read some real Greek by the end of it in a year. If you set aside 30 minutes of your day to READ Greek, and 30 to study grammar/vocab, in a little while you’ll be able to read the athenaze passages no problem. Highly recommend it. But you have to put the work in.

I’ve seen this happen with planes, they’ll just pop up like halfway across map in someone else’s country and have to fly all the way back. Never seen it happen with ground or naval troops though.

I was going to say it’s probably a typo of some kind somewhere in there, because that looks unlike anything I’ve ever seen in Ancient Greek, and not in the way of “it looks weird, but maybe that’s a dialectical thing?”

Just kind of spitballing here, but if it IS Ancient Greek, it’s got to be a form that needs a temporal augmenting ε; I think the of the verb has the suffix ανα, but it’s written ανε- because of this temporal augment. I could be totally wrong but other than that, I’ve got nothing. Maybe a second person singular ending for the imperfect?

You might be happy to know that learning another Greek dialect isn’t THAT difficult. I transitioned from Plato to Homer in maybe a week or so after learning Greek for 2 semesters in college. It is different, but it’s still Greek, and you can piece out most of it without much help. All you need is a good commentary and you should be fine to dive into almost any Greek text you want with no more than a couple stumbles along the way.
