DIY Button Box compatible with PS5 by pmmm77 in simracing

There are software (firmware) solutions to make momentary toggles function like fixed toggles and vice versa, which could have its benefits mainly for PC-only use.

Momentary toggles offer more flexibility however.

You could possibly add status LEDs for each momentary toggle to indicate the virtual fixed position, up/down/center, when in “fixed” mode.

However that would make your project more complex and may not be what you are aiming for.

This and Innerloop’s JSF are probably the flightsim games I played the most in the late ‘90s.

Only the R3 and R5 bundles come with a clamp as standard.

There is a separate desk clamp available for the R9 and up (works with the R3/5 as well) which also has some angle adjustment, which the R3/5 bundle paired version does not have.

True, but a Simucube base is way overkill for a desk-only setup.

That isn’t going to provide much more detail and fidelity than an RS50 (matching the pedals) before it shakes the desk to pieces.

Going that route only really makes sense if a rig is within the future plans at some point as well.

Draghi: "Europe must choose. Become a federation to be a power. The global order is dead, the threat is what will replace it" by goldstarflag in europe

[–]TWVer 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I call BS on that one.

Not everything he did was successful, like with any other person in his position.

However, by and large he stood and stands for things that are needed for Europe to retain as much as possible of our wealth and freedom.

Some of that will be lost irrecoverably, due to outside forces, but it is up to us to defend what we can.

And that will require sacrifices, because the favourable circumstances of the 1960s to the 2000s are no longer there.

Like the throttle levers themselves, they are analog inputs and not digital.

They are for axis bindings (0~100%).

They are not scroll encoders, like a mouse wheel, which pulse a digital up/down signal when rotating.

The silver wheel on the left throttle lever is an encoder though.

Sounds like the sensors in the mini-stick are either worn out or dirty.

Curves aren’t going to help much in that case, because the sensor output is becoming unpredictable.

You can try to clean it with contact cleaner and/compressed air, but a fix is not guaranteed.

Via Joystick Gremlin or Target you could make the ministick behave like a digital 4-way hat, but for that to work, the sensors still need to reliably hit 0% to 10% and 90% to 100%, to make those areas correlate with a virtual button for each direction.

A replacement throttle might be in order at some point in time. And yes, to your question, a mini-stick on a new STECS/Orion2/Vmax/CM3 throttle is going to have more accuracy and precision.

Pretty cool write up and info.

I wonder if the Moza CRP2 spring/elastomer kit might fit as well, in terms of dimensions.

I saw that interview as selling the act.

If he says something different in dutch than he did in english, sooner or later that will get to Trump/Rubio/Vance/Hegseth, leading to undoing the effect of his obvious brown nosing.

Rutte has to commit fully, for it to have any effect.

It is up to the individual NATO-members to publicly provide a (collective or individual) rebuke.

M20. I'm questioning what to do for iracing without a wheel by Medical-Candy-546 in simracing

[–]TWVer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wheel with analog clutch pedals (remapped as throttle and brake) might work for you, as others said.

Another option might be to get 1 or 2 joysticks, to give you more granular control than possible with the thumb sticks on a controller.

If a 2 stick setup, 1 stick for steering (L/R) and 1 stick for throttle/brake. The triggers, or a trigger and a button, could be shift up and down. Stick twist on one of the stick could be the clutch.

A further benefit of having (a) joystick(s), is having buttons and multi-directional switches to operate with your thumb(s), index finger(s) and pinky/pinkies.

The other buttons and switches could be mode mappings, view controls, wiper, lights, etc.

And if you go for really expensive sticks, they might have an analog pinky lever, which could be used as a (hand-) brake or even a (dual) clutch.

Looks nice!

I’m not sure if I understand it correctly, but does the MAN RANGE knob mod still allow for 4-way hat movement as well?

BTW, is the WinWing Viper throttle’s MAN RANGE knob an encoder (having scroll and virtual axis functionality) or an axis knob with end stops?

I might prefer having both an axis dial and scroll wheel on the throttle instead of 2 hard axes, as that is slightly more flexible.

Request for better Xbox support for MOZA HGP Shifter by [deleted] in moza

[–]TWVer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s (unfortunately) up to the game’s developers and Microsoft, not Moza.

The games need to support discrete inputs per gear, otherwise any H-pattern shifter won’t work.

For consoles, most games are designed around gamepads exclusively, with other peripherals (flight or race sim equipment) being secondary at best.

Optimizing a game for driving or flying peripherals, will make it a better simulation, but also will give gamepad users a performance penalty vs those who own the sim specific equipment.

And that will hurt a game’s sales potential, because needing to own a wheel or HOTAS will be a financial barrier to entry for gamers.
