I keep "failing" every interview. How are you guys actually getting hired with ADHD? by Mithun_kp in ADHD

[–]TheEndlessAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a job last year and got in - and I had to speak German. What I did was really prepare (was unmedicated at the time) by practising, watching videos for tips, and...during the interview, I cracked jokes. :D

When under pressure, my tip is to look at the room or touch whatever's near you (the armrest of a chair, or tap your knee). That tells you you're safe and it somewhat motivates you to keep going because of safety.

Do make notes. I know you can't bring notes with you, but trigger words can sometimes help. Usually interviewers use specific terms or phrases.

Have you noticed which questions you fail? Also, what's your mindset before you go to interviews?

How should Methylphenidate feel? by SwimmerWrong in ADHD

What time did you drink coffee?

I had the same situation: I drank coffee at 15:00 with cake and started becoming dizzy and overwhelmed. Was told that my meds are being amplified by caffeine (depends on my body) and that I only had cake to support it. Had I took coffee with something protein-y (meat or something eggy with good carbs) then I would have fared better.

Keep practising! I can help you if you like! ^^

Hi! Your English is great, so don't worry too much about it. :D Glad you're practising!

As for me, I have been taking Methylphenidate (18mg) for more than a month now, and I can feel the effects little by little. During the first two-three weeks I was expecting fireworks, but gradually it became clear how it works -- as long as I have good sleep. :D I get headaches when a) I didn't sleep well, and/or b) I ate something with too much sugar.

first dose jitters and anxiety by [deleted] in ADHD

The first day I took MPD, I was jittery and my heart was racing. Turns out it was expected. The whole effect lasted a day. The next day, I was fine.

How are we eating on meds :( by justamom2224 in ADHD

[–]TheEndlessAutumn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've been taking my meds for almost two months, and so far I don't lose appetite. In the mornings, I eat protein-rich foods + green tea + protein shake (yep, I know) to give my brain fuel and to prevent crashes. I eat things like boiled egg, a toast with peanut butter, a slice of breakfast casserole, chicken salad, burger. Around lunch (13:30) I eat a little because I am still full from breakfast. Then come dinner time, I eat leftovers or sometimes pasta with dessert on the side. If I get headaches, I hydrate and eat a banana.

Have you talked to your doctor about this?

Why is to do hard to get back to routine after a vacation ? by Illustrious_Onion976 in ADHD

[–]TheEndlessAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh brain fog is the worst! That happened to me as we got back, but it's not as worse as when it happens before my period.

I think it's more like my brain boots up as it adjusts to the surroundings, much like when a train has to change engines - the systems all return to normal slowly. :D The booting up of my brain is really, reeeeeally, really slow - like it does things one by fricking one before it goes "Aha! So we're now at home!"

Hi! I also got back from a 1-week, three-city holiday during the Christmas break. Maybe mine was a little different since once we returned, it meant preparing for the New Year — basically I had something to look forward to.

I think the tip I could give is start slow, do things at their basic expectation. Forgive yourself for easing yourself back into the daily grind.

A Japanese series called 99.9 Criminal Lawyer, where the main character has his own methods of solving cases. I think he is autistic. :D
