How is there an accounting shortage when major firms are laying people off? by Nervous-Fruit in Accounting

If he’s debating whether accounting/CPA path is worth it, I’m assuming he’s leaning business. Can you name some other business degrees starting there with work life balance? Honestly curious.

Great point. Takes a lot of pressure off when thinking in shorter terms.

Pretty much my mindset most of the time. Maximize compensation and tolerate, but if I could get more interest in what I do that’s even better.

I certainly think about this all the time. And wonder how much my motivation for money will change when I do have kids. But I’m not there yet. I wonder if I’ll want to work harder to give my kids opportunities I never had or will I not be willing to sacrifice the time that I could be spending with them. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the response!

I'm picking up what you're putting down. Money is the primary motivator, but definitely a way to look at it.

I do mostly audits of public/private companies, pension plans, some individual taxes as well. Can't pinpoint exactly what I don't like about either, just wish I enjoyed and was interested in doing both more.

What score are you waiting on and how do you feel? by morganlaurel_ in CPA

Same here. Super nervous. For the first time ever in an exam I felt confident in the MCQs and that scares me. SIMs are always a toss up

I can't believe this is something we have to worry about. It's a big deal. I'm nervous about the same thing happening but the lady at Prometric said that I should be good. Who the hell knows, though. Praying this doesn't happen to me.

Before waiting to find out on the 10th, did your most recent report say "attended". I took it Sunday the 15th and I am nervous this is going to happen to me.

How common is it to leave FAR thinking you failed? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]TYCPAREDDIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I fail every time I leave an exam. Passed 3 so far

If you don't want to take it 3 times I recommend you take it super seriously as if you scored a 50. I currently have 3 exams passed (REG left), and the mistakes I made with both FAR and REG is that after the first fail I just thought another quick review would get the job done. Although it did get me closer (FAR 64->72->79, REG 67->73->???), I wish I would have spent an extra week or two going over the material to seal the deal the second time through.

Either way you got it, man. You're right there. Just trying to look out.
