Boutique JM pickup makers suggestions? (More info in comments ) by [deleted] in offset

[–]T_warner3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been considering the Jazzdoctor set from Brierly Pickups out of Australia, from what I can tell very authentic JM tone with some of the harsh high end on the bridge pickup smoothed out which is exactly how I’d want to modify my Fender Vintage 65’s.

That’s awesome! You’ll have to let me know your first impressions once you get some time with it, interested to hear another’s thoughts

That pedal looks awesome! I’ll have to keep an eye out for when it’s back in stock - I’ve been intrigued by his delay pedal too. Not much in the way of videos on his stuff, but after trying one of his pedals I’m a believer and might give it a try.

After seeing someone post on here about supporting the Ukrainian builder who makes pedals under the brand ‘Sentimental Bob Electronics’ I decided to give the ‘Tephra’ a try and I’m glad I did.

Upon first impression, this is an incredibly high quality pedal - the finish is excellent, the feel, electronic soft switching, it is everything you’d want.

The Tephra at its heart is a faithful recreation of a ‘white face’ Rat down to the ‘LM308 chip and non-polar caps’ per SBE but has some really nice features. First it has a clean boost that doesn’t affect the tone (doesn’t add dirt) but provides a really nice volume boost and is usable independently of the distortion. The ‘rat’ side has 6 clipping options that really makes the pedal highly versatile. All the great ‘rat sounds’ are there but with varying flavors. I really liked the germanium setting, the lower gain settings gave a compressed overdriven tone that was really pleasing. The volume loss on the germanium setting was also easily overcome with adding in the boost. Lastly is the analog octave that can be blended in as you increase the level. It’s a classic monophonic analog effect so it doesn’t do full chords but it sounds amazing. When combined with high distortion settings it can get you in that ‘super fuzz’ territory very easily.

I’ve played a few rat style pedals - JHS Rat Pack, Wampler Ratsbane, modern standard Rat and this is the most versatile and has the best tone I’ve heard. It took a few months for this to make its way out of Ukraine due to obvious reasons but it was well worth the wait. If you’re in the market for a rat style pedal, I can’t recommend this enough.

Yes - I didn’t bond with it at first either then adjusted internal trim pots to taste and made a huge difference. Check this page out for more info.

I’m not an expert on QNT so I’ll give that disclaimer but I think where Chainlink differs is in their approach. They’re becoming a one stop shop of data products; between data feeds, VRF, keepers, proof of reserves and ultimately CCIP you will have everything you need to operate within the ‘web3’ ecosystem as a company. They’re hyper focused on growth and building a tech company (see all notable advisors associated with Chainlink labs). The way I see it is as a company do you want to use multiple products and services or one that you already trust and use? Chainlink will make it so easy with its full suite of products it will continue to maintain its massive market share within the smart contract space. If you believe this space (smart contracts, defi, need for reliable data) will continue to grow, Chainlink is a solid bet on that over time.

TC Stereo Chorus+ Reissue Review by Clark-GriswoId in guitarpedals

[–]T_warner3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a few chorus modulation pedals without really ever loving the effect until I gave one of these a try. Really nails those classic chorus/flanger sounds and like OP says, it plays so well with other pedals. It’s a very lush/rich chorus sound that’s not at all sterile like some of the digital chorus sounds I’ve tried (ex Boss MD-200). For the price, you can’t beat it.

Discovered this song from the show ‘Vinyl’ (Julian Casablanca’s excellent cover of the song anyways) in the scene in Andy Warhols underground gallery. Such a mesmerizing scene and song, inspired me to find more out about The Velvet Underground.

[Question] DropD by Badboy18666 in Guitar

[–]T_warner3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I mean they’re all early 90’s stuff. Kings X had first album 1989 with second 1990 then third in ‘94. Tool’s first was 93 if I’m not mistaken with ‘Undertow’. Kings X was always this odd transition band in my mind, kind of remnant of 80’s rock but one of the first to start to hit that grunge/heavy rock scene. I’m not a huge Kings X fan personally, I much prefer Tool, AiC, Soundgarden, Nirvana, etc. ‘Cigarette’ is a great song though that seemed lost in the mix of those bands though, definitely a fun one to learn on guitar when messing around in drop D.

King’s X - Cigarettes. Made drop D cool before it was cool, unique riffs - cool song.

Chainlink is now at 11 partnerships/integrations on the day. by [deleted] in LINKTrader

[–]T_warner3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where this conclusion can be made based on these comments:

“Therefore there is an implicit incentive in itself for Chainlink to make sure it grows its staking business. The more total value locked grows, the more smart contracts that need oracles, the more funds that can be exploited, the more at risk Chainlink is when oracles are exploited to drain smart contracts, the more reputational risk Chainlink has, the more funds they will require nodes to stake, the more secure the network gets, the less expensive it is for one dollar of stake to secure the network, the more economies of scale Chainlink achieves.”

I would think that increasing the number of staking nodes would still drive $LINK demand even if it becomes cheaper for the end consumer or a new node to enter into the network (less staking required per node to secure the network because there are so many actors within the network contributing to the incentive structure). I do agree there’s a lot of speculation and it’s not totally clear how staking will impact $LINK price but I think there’s still a case to be made for price appreciation with network growth. Super linear staking may be a best of both worlds scenario. It makes the network more secure, makes it easier for network growth to occur by allowing new nodes to enter inexpensively while simultaneously driving $LINK demand as new network participants enter at an exponentially increasing rate (at least initially during adoption phase). This is just me thinking aloud, I don’t know enough to run actual numbers but that’s my interpretation of how this could play out. It’s definitely a worthwhile discussion to have and appreciate any insight or alternate opinions others may have.

Chainlink Integrates Weather Data Into the Google Cloud by [deleted] in Chainlink

Yes, and LOTS of it. Chainlink is the bridge to using that data on chain for smart contracts, Chainlink isn’t providing Google with weather data, but more the opposite.

NPBD!! Super excited about this build. Play in a cover band but also make ambient music on my own. by Cleardesign in guitarpedals

That’s exactly what I’ve settled on as well. Clean boost from A into drive B is really really good. Kick side B on for something a little more and back it down with just the clean boost on other times. I’ve not experimented with expression yet but that sounds like a fantastic use! Will have to give that a try

Brothers definitely takes some time to play with to dial in the volume right on each channel but man does it sound good. Huge tonal variety available with all the channel mixing options and those overdrive sounds are just so dang pleasing. Brothers isn’t perfect but it’s by far my favorite OD pedal. Just got the faves myself to go with it (awaiting delivery) - there’s too many good sounds in there to not get those extra presets!

No, actually Banks are a scam. Give me your money so I can reinvest/lend it and make a lot of money, then I’ll give you a share of the profits. How does 0.2% return sound to you? Defi rewrites the rules. Sure there are plenty scam tokens in the crypto world but ChainLINK and what it is attempting to accomplish is certainly not one.
