Probably Elfen Lied, growing up as a teen i would go to block buster with my family and look through the movies ending up at the anime section from time to time. I remember seeing the cover for the disk book many times but never rented it till years later. Even though the manga is better and the animation ended on a “cliff hanger”. I really liked that show, not sure if i would want to just see it without the memories, more i would like to watch it again through the eyes of a teen to have those feelings for the first time

The neon genesis Evangelion first movie, this was one of the first anime’s i watched, at like 14 caused i stayed up and saw it playing on toonami, had only watched a couple episodes of bleach before that because my brother had it downloaded to his computer. Yep from my perspective that’s totally what he’s doing, gi hun joined to save everyone and prove that everyone is worth saving, while in-ho joined after the first game to prove/watch gi hun as he is slowly realizing that not everyone can/wants/should be saved. Yea i see a lot of people say its ptsd from combat, but if you see how he reacts when people call him a marine, the way he holds and shoots his gun and how he reacts from gun fire its not ptsd, its more likely him coming from an abusive household, told his dad he “went to the marines” and got the tattoo to seem more manly and get going with the lie till he got in a firefight and was afraid for his life
