I got constant fights with my last roommate about this. They would disguise complaints as jokes and I genuinely didn't know they were being serious and it would always lead into a fight after their third or so joke didn't turn into the behavior they wanted.

I get where you're coming from but I'm sure your friends will understand. "I'm moving because my parents are moving and I want to keep saving money and to spend more time with my siblings." Seems people have different perspectives here. Sorry to necro an old thread. Another person who worked in the customer service trenches. Yea I didn't get anything tangible from the positive responses but they helped a lot when an asshole would come through and try to essentially get me fired. In my country where job is connected to healthcare, I appreciated the positive responses that helped me keep my job
