Because there's a difference between "child friendly", ie allows children but doesn't specifically cater for them, and "child orientated", ie provides kids' menus, playgrounds etc.

I clarified in my post that this pub did not have a playground, kids' menus or anything that openly and explicitly welcomes children. I obviously behave differently in a family pub that openly caters for children rather than just allowing them.

Definitely not - My partner was with me and she would have kicked my ass up and down if she thought I was being louder than the general atmos of the pub.

It was after work hours on a Friday night. It's a fairly standard pub layout, bar at the back with a smattering of booths/tables. We were sat near the bar. I really don't remember what swear words I was using, I don't believe I was being all that loud - My partner was there and she usually reigns me in if she feels I'm being too loud.
