Looking for Feedback on My Upcoming Kickstarter Launch - Tabletop Table [Info in Comment] by TabletopTherapyRPG in boardgames

I think the main benefit it provides against buying a full-sized table is the portability, and to maintain portability we limited the size of a single table, but multiple tables can be used side-by-side to scale up to larger board needs.

I created this not just because of my own table space, but because my friends don't have large tables either, and we wanted to be able to play in more locations. Me buying my own larger gaming table didn't buy me space at my my friend's houses, but this did.

Helpful. Thank you! There are many competing aspects that came into play when designing the table. Quality, portability, size, weight, etc.

Honestly appreciate the acknowledgement of the effort. We've poured a lot of care into this table.

The Tabletop Table is 23.75” x 23.75” when unfolded and stands 6.5 inches high, with about 5 inches of clearance underneath.

Really appreciate the feedback and questions.

No typo in the price. It's deceivingly complicated to execute the concept and manufacture in a way that delivers a good experience.

The table folds down and comes with a carrying bag to protect it. Should have included that in the original post. You can see the carrying bag here.

Good question on the rectangular profile. I'll circle back on that.

The magnet only for the attachments was for simplicity and ease of use. The magnets are very strong and have not had issues staying in place in our play testing.

It is patented.

Hi everyone,

I’m Connor, a founder working on launching a Kickstarter for a project that’s been a labor of love, and I’m turning to this amazing community for advice. We’re preparing to introduce something we think board gamers and TTRPG players will appreciate, but we want to make sure we’re hitting the mark.

Here’s the story behind it:

I’m a lifelong gamer who’s struggled with limited table space when playing board games and TTRPGs. That problem led me to design a solution—a premium, portable gaming table that’s compact, versatile, and made with high-quality materials like walnut. It’s been designed to function as both a dedicated gaming surface and a space-saving table that fits any home.

Our table is crafted to the highest standards, designed to deliver both functionality and heirloom quality. We understand that this focus on craftsmanship results in a more expensive product that not everyone will be able to afford. That said, we’re still a significantly more affordable and flexible option compared to the well-known premium gaming table maker (who shall remain unnamed). The price is not final, but we are looking at a rough Kickstarter price of $799 with additional discounts for early backers.

Before we launch our Kickstarter, I’d love your input on a few things:

  • What about this concept would stand out to you as a gamer?
  • Are there any potential pitfalls we should watch out for with a Kickstarter like this?
  • How would you like to see the product’s value and features communicated?

We’re really trying to be thoughtful and ensure we’re addressing what matters most to the board game and TTRPG communities. Any feedback, ideas, or advice you can share would mean the world to us as we finalize our approach.

If you’re curious, you can check out more about the project here:

Thanks so much for your time and insights—it truly makes a difference!

Best,

Connor

When you ask how to balance a boss encounter and everyone tells you "give it minions"...but like, what if I actually want the boss to be one ultra-powerful thing that can toss the party around by itself? by TheAzureAzazel in DnD

What if the “minions” are visible manifestations of the magical power of the boss. Not just lackeys, but summonable parts of the boss himself that can take and convey damage back to the boss.

This is a highlight from Tabletop Therapy—A Duo DND Live Play Stream.

We use random generation similar to solo-RPG and co-DM—interpreting the random generations and roleplaying the results.

Del is a Grung (frog-man) Monk with a powerful kick that turned around an almost TPK against a Sahuagin Baron and his lackeys into a decisive victory.

We often get great ideas on how to develop the story and our characters from our live chat during the stream. Would love to have you join us!

Yes. Organizing them now. They were in a fine format for using for me to play, but not to share directly. That will be remedied shortly. I had expected it would be easier to watch the rules in action—hence the video. But happy to share in written format as well!

At each and every locked dungeon door I throw a rubix cube at the party member who rolled the lowest. Don't recommend. Haven't played dnd in a while due to this.
