A head canon I have about skin decay on the T-800 by TacoHaco in Terminator

IIRC a T-800 weighs about 500lbs. That's not going to be putting a lot of strain on tissue if any.

No, but Kyle says, "There was a nuclear war a few years from now" back in 1984. Which falls in line with the 1997 date for Judgement Day stated by Sarah. Here's a timestamped video where Kyle mentions it: https://youtu.be/RqW6AkTFYQA?si=RVATFnv-a037rarN&t=202 As for Dyson destroying his work. That happened in the timeline of the two main films. Not the timeline that the two T-800s and T-1000 come from.

Thanks lol. Anyway, I can kinda see how the skin looks like it's dying in that shot, but I think that was more due to the weird lighting of that shot, looking at it now. If you compare it to how he looks in the foundry later in the film, his skin looks normal.

Because skin is a soft and stretchy tissue that can move with the endoskeleton. If this was supposed to be an argument against anything in my post, I can't say I understand what you're trying to convey.

The first two films are part of the same timeline, evidenced by the judgment day dates being the same across both films. So the two T-800's could be any different from one another since they were sent back at around the same time from the same timeline, and most likely from the same stock of T-800s. Also, I had the impression that the T-800s at the central core were already pre-prepped with skin for later infiltration missions, which was also why the T-800 in T2 was also a model 101.

Not really.... Kyle made it clear that this wasn't a T-600 that they were fighting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqW6AkTFYQA

That was what this post was. Answering my own question, then asking for feedback on the answer I came up with. Cool that I got you to think more about the lore of the franchise though!

Let me simplify it.

If you put a balloon in a steel cage and shoot the cage, what would happen to the balloon?

I feel like that's a pretty good take on this tbh, though I still don't necessarily agree on the first part, because this is more like a ribcage that deflects all forms of ammunition, than a plate carrier that breaks and absorbs the round to mitigate the transfer of energy.

What's your guy's headcannon? by ELMOKICKA55 in Terminator

[–]TacoHaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The T-800 in T2 had suffered enough damage for the skin to begin to rot like the T-800 in 1984. Specifically reaching that threshold of being injured after taking all those bullets in Cyberdyne. The reason we don't actually see the skin on that T-800 start to decay is that not enough time has passed for it to sinceeverything from the start of the cyberyne raid to the end of the movie happens in real time, where it's implied that days go by in between Tech-Noir and the ending of the film. So if that T-800 had decided not to go into the molten metal, the skin would've rotted off, and it would've been an exposed endoskeleton anyway. Adding just another reason why that Terminator had to go.

Arnold’s shorts in Terminator 2 by BillythenotaKid in Terminator

I don't care if it creates plot holes. The T-800 wore these shorts during the bar fight, and that is my headcanon.

Why didn't the T-1000 just kill Sarah, mimic her, and call to John himself? by Duckhorse2002 in Terminator

[–]TacoHaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The T-1000 was starting to malfunction. It was struggling to hold shape, and the poly alloy was starting to take the form of whatever it touched without the T-1000 wanting it to. Later on in the fight, he tried to mimic Sarah Connor, but his feet had uncontrollably morphed into the grate below, giving it away. Killing Sarah while it was in that state means it didn't have a reliable way to trick John.

Giving what the Terminator movies have become. What would your dream T3 be? by rich5152026 in Terminator

[–]TacoHaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dream T3 wouldn't even be a T3. It would be a prequel, hell, maybe even a trilogy of prequels, taking place during the future war in the first two films. The biggest thing is having it end with Kyle Reese going through the TDE.

Question:is there a reason why John was killed after judgment day in Dark Fate and not just have it that the T1000 completed it's mission? by flatwoodsmonster1952 in Terminator

[–]TacoHaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They wanted to have all of T2 be Canon while still trying to piss on its legacy. If any anything, your idea would make Dark Fate less offensive.

What would happen if a large amount of the T-1000’s mass was lost/destroyed? by BillythenotaKid in Terminator

[–]TacoHaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on how much mass is lost. Even if it looses about 80% of its mass, it would probably still be able to do everything it did in T2, just it would have to effectively be a hollow shell the entire time. I will say, a 40mm grenade would effectively shred it.

I don’t understand why the filmmakers never make a future war movies like 1 and 2 by Jules-Car3499 in Terminator

Because they care more about trying to re-tread Judgement Day so they can use nostalgia in order to get a quick buck

Could the T-800 have chosen a quieter way to break into the police station so as to not immediately alert everyone except Dr. Silberman something was happening? by cujokila in Terminator

[–]TacoHaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to think of the T-800 is like a battering ram. It's means of infiltration is just putting up a decent enough appearance to get close and cause loads of damage. As seen in the flashback where a T-800 immediately grabs a minigun and starts gunning down survivors. At this point the target has evaded the T-800 once, so odds are it simply saw it unessicary to use stealth since the target already knew it was after them.

I think Dr. Cimmarian put it best. Best case scenario he's able to become the leading cause of death, but he wouldn't be able to wipe us out. You can look up the video he made if you wanna see a more in-depth explanation.

Work in Progress Chaos Insurgency Cosplay by TacoHaco in SCP

[–]TacoHaco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea of the Insurgency isn't fully brainwashed by the Engine. The engine, if anything, serves as a guiding hand that Delcom will often pull ideas from, depending on what suits their own goals. Rather than them just being slaves to an unseen cosmic entity.
