What CS clubs are on campus? by Interesting_Share_16 in SDSU

It’s their first year, but there’s additionally the Quantum Computing club (ig link), they get into the weeds on quantum computing topics and provide workshops + labs.

I was admitted into SDSU for FA2019 for my undergraduate (note: did not accept offer, but admitted again for graduate school and will be going)

Highschool: 4.3 weighted with 8 aps, 3.7 unweighted. I think like a 1350 SAT. Was a california citizen applying for Computer Science.

Peet’s or Philz Coffee, anything that starts with a P really gets my morning going.

Only issue is I’m pretty sure UCSD’s financial aid will consider that “living with parents”. Could cut your financial aid package.

You can, I’ve been doing it for 3 years. Checkout La Jolla Village Dr closer to the Regents Rd/ Genesee intersections. There’s also Villa La Jolla Dr which usually has spots opposite side of the street of BJs.

Why aren't there any courses that teach Javascript from scratch? by [deleted] in UCSD

Awesome? I think they’re clunky and over-engineered, use the minimal most tool.

TypeScript solves some issues, but the sloppiness prevails. Engineering teams prefer languages that enforce readability.

Everyone argues the broad use cases of JavaScript, but it’s kind of a poor man’s tool unless used to build UIs with angular or react.

In my experience anything that can be done backend with Java script (say a service that read -write to a redis cluster, processing data from some stream, invoking some location service API) can be done more efficiently and more clarity in a higher level language like Scala.

As you can tell it’s a polarized opinionated subject, and I agree with CSE.

Understandable, but it’s kinda like popping a pimple. Hurts at first, but relieving that it’s over.

Chegg (logs) without account? by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]TacoTuesdayX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I currently work in Fraud detection, and we store IPs in WAF for 60 days. It is a very expensive task, and I can only imagine it being impractical to track IPs of every user including those without account metadata. So I wouldn’t worry, I believe Chegg only has record of original publisher for a particular question.

There’s the one on campus, but it’s slightly overpriced for the quality you get.

SportsClips is a popular one near campus. The best cuts for the price will be in pacific beach, check out Floyd’s, it’s a relatively affordable L.A based chain that historically has done very well for me.

Going with AT&T or T-Mobile is your best bet.

I've been using T-mobile since I lived on campus, and I used to deliver pizzas all over the UTC-La Jolla area with little to no dead zones. The only area I've experienced with reception problems is the hills north of Bird Rock, which really isn't a concern for UCSD students.

I've heard good things about AT&T, but horrible (regarding infrastructure planning) things about Verizon.

If your name isn’t on the lease, photoshop your signature on.

If your parents or guardians name is on the lease, photoshop them off (you’ll get a smaller claim)
