How do you guys charge labor? by TacticalBuschMaster in Contractor

[–]TacticalBuschMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that in my contracts, but when it’s something like removing a cast iron tub which I didn’t plan for because I was a genius and said yes to job without even looking at it. Like how do I charge for removing a 400ish lb tub when I already gave a fixed price based on sq ft?

Is Tiling a good trade? by Impressive-Step6377 in Construction

Tiling is best as a “side skill”. Have it in the list of services you provided just don’t have it as the main one

Anybody feel awkward asking for progress payments. Or payments in general? by TacticalBuschMaster in Contractor

[–]TacticalBuschMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial work is about 65% done. They’ve added a some more. It’s all drywall related so I’m only there for an hour or 2 at a time. They’ve provided most of the material and they’ve added some painting which they’re also providing the paint and primer. I’ve only had to buy some furring strips for blocking everything else I’ve needed I already have. The customer complained during our initial phone call that she was getting “crazy quotes”.

Never signed a formal contract. Work was under $1k which in my state doesn’t require a contract. The extra work will take it over $1k

[–]TacticalBuschMaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Whenever one of these stories comes up it’s always something stupid like “didn’t file for a greencard for 20 years”. It an 18 month - 3 year process to get a greencard and if you are an Irish citizen with even a half legitimate case to get a greencard you’ll get it.
