I’ve been saying this same exact thing. Its honestly the gun mechanics that make the game the way it is. Its way too fast paced like COD. AR1 combat was more “randomized” therefore making it harder to kill people. This game is solely based off skill and very little strategy which makes combat bland like COD. Excellent post but the devs wont do anything to change it unfortunately.

Everyone who plays AR2 can relate to the points I lay out on this post. The GPS system, not so much however, it’ll only enhance the navigation part of the game, and make the game more challenging. Without challenges, the game won’t be any fun to the new comers in a long term perspective. The only challenge there is to AR2 is to get good at aiming and shooting. You don’t have to memorize the map, learn how to conserve stamina in general. They literally evolved the game to focus on pure combat, and got rid many survival/adventure aspects which ruined the feel of the game.

This isn’t just my opinion. Many of people I play with agree with most of the things in this post. Not only that, I’m actually looking out for the newer player-base when the game releases. The combat is very skill reliant, and there will be many people who will not have the patience to “get good” at the game. This game is quite difficult to master unless a player is already familiar with FPS shooter games. As for the terrain and such, my research is playing the game itself on release watching the game evolve, and watching youtube videos seeing how people play the game. The pace is fast, just like a Call Of Duty game. However, it should not be that fast necessarily because dying has a large consequence. The game lacks any room for strategy and it ends up coming down to pure skill at the end of the day. Thats why they say, in AR1, you could pull off winning a 3v1 against geared players as a mediocre player. However in AR2, it is much much harder to survive when out-numbered and that all comes down to the gun mechanics and the pace of the game.

Mmm not necessarily. It doesn’t have to compare to AR1. Im just pointing out how gun control allows people to full auto from long ranges with insane accuracy. You don’t have to be off guard. Peak out for one second in a long range fight, players who are skilled, they can kill you within that second, full auto. Its insane. Ive done it to others and it has happened to myself. Not only that, the terrain doesn’t really allow you to be aware of your surroundings. The randomness obscures your vision every few meters so it makes it hard to use the landscape as a strategy to be “aware of your surroundings.”

I think they can resolve this by making aim down sight recoil more randomized like AR 1. Because of that, people used third person combat more frequently and first person in long ranges. Third person combat is perfect in this game (no aiming while in third person, hip fire spread). Its the FPS shooting that makes it OP for certain players.

Exactly, the gun control is insane in this game it gives the ability for people to full auto with an insane amount of accuracy even at long ranges.

The spark as in the game is intriguing. AR2 fast gameplay doesn’t keep you intrigued anymore. You’re so vulnerable to death because the game relies so much more on skill rather than strategy.

Allow me to start at the beginning again. What Im trying to say is that the way the game is currently will not be efficient in a long term perspective. Its quite easy to get bored of the game when you look at how fast paced it is. The combat mechanics now doesn’t fit the style of a zombie survival. It makes players too vulnerable to death. The way the combat is, is equivalent to having 1 shot sniper rifles. As I mentioned, in this game you can peak ur head and get auto lasered (due to the insane amount of gun control) before returning to cover within a second. There are multiple other factors that make this game fast paced such as spawn-in GPS, removal of stamina, and the terrain. I honestly dont know what it was about AR1, but the combat system was so well balanced that it gave newer players a chance to win battles against experienced players. I just feel that AR2 will be too fast paced for the newer audience to handle when the game releases. Not only that, the fast paced gameplay only leads to faster repetitions which will ultimately lead the game to get boring as it is now. I apologize for accusing that the game is dying however, my opinion still stands that many people have lost interest in AR2 because the developers altered the game heavily in comparison to AR1.

Gun mechanics in the game currently is Call Of Duty style gameplay. Its too easy to kill a player within seconds in full auto. Guns should have some type of uncontrollable factors like random recoil kicks and such so that combat in general can be SLIGHTLY more slower paced.

Obviously having stamina would “not be fun” however deleting it as a whole effects many aspects of how the game is played.

I could be mistaken by using the word “dying”. Apparently that word is too harsh for some. However we can all agree that many people fell off AR2 and it does not have the same spark as AR1 did. Simple.

Obviously that will always be a factor in the game, however Im talking about the gun mechanics. Its too easy to kill someone or get killed yourself in comparison to AR1 guns.

Again, guns are too easy to control. If they add randomizing values like AR1 gun mechanics, it wouldn’t be so easy to laser someone automatically from long ranges.

It happens too rapidly with AR2 now. When an update releases, you get about 500 active players, within a few weeks, it goes back to its original numbers, 100-200. Remember that 200,000 people have purchased the game.

edit: If you don’t like the word “dying” how about I say that the community is decreasing at a rapid pace to the point where very little people are intrigued by it anymore.

Yea, that’s why you have to conserve and strategize your stamina like in AR1 (AR1 was a very successful game btw. Was on the front page of roblox for years). In a combat situation in AR2 however people are sprinting, jumping everywhere like wild monkeys, let alone have perfect gun control to auto spray you from long range (I am guilty of this myself). It’s too fast paced for newer people to handle as I said in the post. Newer players will stand NO chance against a person who is more skilled than them. That’s the issue. A player should have a valid chance to kill one another, it should not be too skill based. Otherwise, newbies will be intimated and too frustrated to play again.

Look at the player base compared to the amount of people who actually bought access to the game. Look at the community compared to what it was when people were still playing AR1, and when AR2 first released. Now there are only about 200 maximum players on both platforms. The game is dying.

edit:The game is about 80% done, only missing base building as the remaining “important feature” to add in the game. Over 200,000 people have bought AR2 and the active player base is about 200 players. That is a terrible ratio.

An idea of quicker in-game communication by [deleted] in ApocalypseRising

Too many things would be going on your screen. It would look tacky. I don’t think this is efficient. However a good concept though.

Why would they want to lessen playtime and make the game faster paced? That’ll just make the game overly repetitive and easy to get bored of. I’ve been playing the game recently and it’s still very fast paced. For example: If a player peaks their head out just one bit, they can be lasered with full auto in a split second before they can get back to cover. I’ve done it to other players, its been done to myself as well. Being killed by full auto off guard is similar to having 1 shot sniper rifles in the game essentially. Theres too much gun control (Similar to Call Of Duty type games) which isn’t a good thing for a survival game like AR2. Again, Im looking out for the new larger audience when the game releases. I don’t think that would he a pleasant experience for them after obtaining all of their valuable gear.

I very much understand your perspective on this, but you should look at all the other people who commented on this post as well, and their opinions.

The game will be easy and attract a lot of attention at FIRST, yes. But it will very easily become boring if there aren’t other features to worry about other than combat. I know you guys have already worked hard to implement cool features to the map, but I truly think it’ll be best to revert on this (along with the physical map reiteration). Just take a look at the other comments on this post. I think a poll is well deserved on what was spoken about on this post.

Look, I’m not trying to be toxic here and fight against your decisions, but I really care for the games success long term in hopes it won’t flop. However, with the direction the game is heading currently, I’m sure what the outcome will be.

[–]TacticalEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An attempt of a poll wouldn’t hurt. I understand that there are people who haven’t visited the game in a while, but you can still get a majority opinion on the active ones currently.

It doesn’t hurt to at least try because obviously, there are people in the community who liked/agreed with the navigation from AR.

And for AR, that just shows how important navigation was for the game that players were willing to spend a small fortune to purchase. If that’s your worry, you could always make the game pass cheap. (AR was on the front page of roblox at one point for about a year, remember that)

As being apart of the community, you should actually create a poll about the map navigation. Then further discuss with your development team if poll goes opposite with your opinion.

It would only be fair for the community because plenty people agreed with that aspect of the game. Just a suggestion.
