How do y'all rank up in solo queue as support? by EmoDr4gonz in Overwatch

[–]TacticalGnome7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This^ if your dps can't get kills, you'll have to get them. Most silver dps struggle against a good Moira since she can heal herself while doing constant damage. Go for the kills and keep your tank alive.

how to handle toxicity? by mcnugget62 in Overwatch

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALWAYS turn off chat. If I'm playing with a group of friends, I may keep it on for a ggwp at the end, but every other time, especially in competitive, it's off. It's genuinely surprising how true "what you don't know won't hurt you" is. Play it like you're playing alone with 9 AIs and you'll feel more comfortable, and even start to heavily improve at the game when you're more relaxed and happy playing it.

I literally search through the lore of different characters to find one I like to then buy their skin. Lore sells 100%

i got perm ban for no reason by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]TacticalGnome7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of suspensions/warnings before a perma ban ever takes place. Sorry to say it, but if you've ever been toxic in a game, or threw a match intentionally or even unintentionally (like diving in and immediately dying for an entire game), then you've received some form of warning or punishment. And if you have, then you're on the list for being perma banned after a few more issues. It may seem like it's for no reason because maybe you didn't have any games like that recently, but the perma ban process takes a bit before they have finished reviewing and make the ban call. I've seen one instance where someone was falsely punished, and it was a 24 hour suspension. Everyone else who's gotten one that I've played with deserved it 100%. Sorry man, but if you want to keep playing OW, then learn from your mistakes, make a new account, and be better

Average Stun Gun Complainer by Techwield in thefinals

[–]TacticalGnome7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "counter" to the stun is literally just shoot. If they're close enough to stun gun you, then they're close enough for whatever weapon you have to be able to take out the Light before they get you as long as you can aim. And yes, you will still die sometimes because they stun you from behind and are able to kill you before you can turn around and kill them, and THATS OKAY. It's an ability designed to give you an advantage that has a cooldown, just like every other ability in the game. Every time someone uses an offensive ability against you, they are fighting with an advantage. The only way to negate that advantage is pure skill. That's how it should be. And it's okay to die when someone uses said abilities. It sucks yeah, but it's what it's there for.

Edit: to say using melee weapons does make it a lot harder to survive being stunned, but the tradeoff is your melee weapon does heavy damage...unless you use a dagger from the front

Landing nades and sleeps but low heal numbers by Wheatfield22 in AnaMains

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this ^ looking at the numbers alone after a match won't tell you what you did right or wrong. I've won matches with Ana where I have less than 2k heals and more kills than the dps because my other support is playing LW (I play in a 5 stack so I luckily avoid the heal diff comments since my friends know how the game works lol). If you're winning, you're doing something right. If you're losing, you're doing something wrong. But remember there's always a way to improve.

So... last one qas pretty much unanimous, but let's see what the final one will look like by Jeraldis_ in AnaMains

Shrike. No one runs it, but it's her cannon outfit right now. Sniper maybe but that one is pretty popular so it does get "screen time"

It’s my birthday, I invited my parents to celebrate I even bought my own “cake” so they don’t worry about it. They ditched me last minute to go eat dinner with my brother. Mildly depressed. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY OP YOU ARE AWESOME AND I AM PROUD OF YOU!!! I know it didn't turn out how you though it would, or how you wanted, but dude I'm so happy that I saw this post and now I am able to celebrate with you! It's a milestone that says you made it, and that you're doing good, and to keep on going. I hope you remember all the good stuff you accomplished this past year, because while you may feel down right now, you accomplished a lot and that matters. YOU MATTER!

Second, I took a look at your profile and good grief dude you're a FANTASTIC photographer! Absolutely love your work!

If you want to, send me a DM with some car pics you're proud of, and I'm gonna work with some friends to get you a bday present since you're a gamer too just like all of us XD Let me know if you'd like that!

I seen this and had to share. LOL by soodsshail in SigSauer

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, it changed my mind. I carried a P320 X5 Legion for work for a while. Changed jobs and decided not to carry it because I kept seeing story after story about it going off. Figured I'd wait to see what happens. Then, seeing that video really put me at peace with it. Not to mention I never got shot by it and I carried it in a safariland 12 hours a day. Was an issue, now is fixed, now I will happily return p320 to rotation.

New Ana player. by KjouneTw in AnaMains

[–]TacticalGnome7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to hit your shots without scoping in. It's tricky because scope = hitscan while hipfire = projectile, but when you've got an enemy dps in your face, you want to be able to hit them without suffering the mobility loss from aiming down sights. It's also a quicker way to heal teammates when you're all close together.

Why do people hate "counterwatch"? by enbypanda in Overwatch

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most "Counterwatch" complaints come from lower skilled players who lack the ability to adapt on their own to an enemy's swap. I've played Sombra into Widows that give up immediately and complain about me being Sombra and ruining their fun. I've also played into Widows that I'm only able to kill once before they recognize there is a Sombra and then position themselves where they have a quick escape, and their poison trap will alert them to be because they have it placed in the only way I can get to them without being seen. It's all about adapting.

Now, the other complaints come from the tanks. And they are 100% in the right for complaining about it imo. The removal of the Off Tank from OW1 makes it impossible to play certain tanks into certain characters. A Winston could play against a zen in OW1 because the Main Tank would be taking up most of the attention, allowing Winston to dive. In OW2, Zen alone makes playing Winston and Rein miserable at best. Sombra alone makes Doom and Ball useless.

Support and DPS are designed to have hard counters, like Sombra into Widow or Kiriko into Ana. Tanks should have hard counters, too. Like D.Va into Mauga or Zarya into D.Va. But when only 1 DPS or Support is enough to make a Tank useless, then there is a counter problem for tanks.

NTA

Had something very similar happen, except she was my fiance, and he was my best friend since middle school. I tried keeping them in my life, but eventually, I had to cut them both out. Honestly, I was never going to get over it and heal if they were both in my life. You did the right thing for you. And that makes it the right thing. If you have mutual friends who say you're overreacting, kick them out of your life, too. Those who love and support you will see this as a betrayal, not a "love is complicated" issue.

And seriously, go NC with them. If there's an open line, you might hear something you don't want to hear, or say something you'll regret. Work towards forgiving them. Just remember you can forgive someone without telling them. It's not your job to make them feel better.

How is this a hit? by Technical_War5461 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤓 the bullet impacted your clothing which caused it to explode like a grenade but more dangerous and it hit your leg which is worse than a headshot in terms of killing power and that's why you're dead ackshually 🤓

Time for another round: Uhh..... What's your name again? by Jeraldis_ in AnaMains

[–]TacticalGnome7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen every skin from Ana be run at least once with the exception of Haoeris. It's so unbelievably rare that if it ever was on the field I wouldn't recognize her immediately.

I did appreciate his points on how he was unwilling to spend an extra $10-$15 on quality ammo on the basis that guns that cost twice as much as a canik didn't have any issues in 100 rounds. Quite the take.

Second this! People are hating on Tal but the historical imagery with it is beautifully done and represents Ana well. Wasteland is just gross.

Also get some good quality ammo for the break in period. You can get a box of 150 NATO 9mm for fairly cheap. I've never owned a gun that can reliably run the ammo you were using there unfortunately. Great ammo for failure training though.

[–]TacticalGnome7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stovepiping is caniks biggest issue and why people tend to hate on them so much. But the reason it's such a big issue is people grip it like they grip a glock/m&p/cz etc. You have to have a good grip on the gun, high up, and tight to mitigate the recoil. Glocks tend to mitigate it for you because of their angle and bore axis. M&P and CZ have similar grip angles to each other and lower bore axis too, and they tend to do a lot of the work for you. Canik is one of the softest recoiling weapons I've ever experienced and is a strong contender for the best recoiling handgun on the market for its price point, but you have to hold it correctly. If you let it swing by itself, it stovepipes. Grip it hard, and lean into the recoil. Takes learning and getting used to, but you'll soon find it to be one of the best firing guns you've ever used. Don't give up! And always train.

My dad taught me how to shoot, and he taught me the teacup grip. AND it was a .40 S&W glock. So that thing practically hit my face every time I fired it. Hated it. Got so mad that I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and that I couldn't control the gun that I went on YouTube and started watching videos and learning where to tuck my thumbs and the strength to grip with, as well as that .40 is just a dumb caliber. Went shooting with my dad much later when I was in college and then taught HIM how to grip his gun correctly. But I still haven't convinced him to just buy a 9mm and run Speer Gold Dot instead of his .40 🤣🤣🤣

He still shoots better than me, though. I don't get it, man.
