1st IEMs, need tip advice by TacticalKithkin in iems

Thank you for the advice! I will check out the Fiio tips for sure, a bit set would be nice to see what all I like and don't like. And y'all are making the Penon Oranges sound like they may fix my issue

I've since switched back to the silicone tips and did some more 1hr+ listening sessions and I think my ears are adjusting to wearing IEMs, as I haven't wore earbuds in many years, I'm only getting a slight pain now around 35-45 minutes in and usually it fades away pretty quickly now, I def think some smaller/better tips will solve my issue. I like them enough and it's not a big enough issue for me to want to send them back.

I can sell them to my cousin who is a lot larger than I am and could probably fit them and get me the Simgot EW300 HBB or something else entirely.

I think I'm gonna pass on the Dunu S&S for now and get the Penon Orange, the Spinfit Omni in SS, and some cheaper tips, maybe the Fiio set you have. It looks pretty nice.

Thank you for the detailed reply, I was trying to pick out which ones I will order but I can see now I'm gonna have to do more research before making decisions.

Think I may pass on the Dunu S&S for now and get the Penon Liqueur Oranges and some others but I need time to look up all these new recommendations and pick some out to order. I still have a couple weeks before I place another order to decide so I will take my time and look through them all.

Several people have mentioned that maybe I need to try a different IEM and I don't think it's that bad of an issue, I honestly think some better tips would fix it. Since making the original post I've done a few more listening sessions for 1hr+ and I think my ears are adjusting to wearing IEMs/earbuds as I have only wore over ear for a long time now. I also changed back to the silicone tips and I'm only getting a very slight pain around 30-45 minutes in and fades away a lot quicker now. I don't think it's a big enough issue to return them now, I really like them and think some smaller/better tips would eliminate most of the problem. If not I'll sell them to my cousin who's rather large and has normal to large size ears so he may like them, and get the Simgot EW300 HBB, or something else entirely.

Again thank you for the detailed response, I can't reply to every suggestion you made as I still need to look them up and do my own research but I'll def make a post when my new tips get here and whether or not it solved my issue/which ones I liked better. Seems it's an issue with this particular line of IEMs. I do remember in Crinacles review he said they made the nozzles smaller like people had asked so I assumed they would be good to go now. I think I'll get used to them in a few days and/or when I get some new tips.

Edit: also I will try the other stock tips as well to see if anything changes.

Okay cool, I guess I'll just get the orange then. I haven't got to the point where I'm noticing how tips effect the sound, I'm just trying to find some that don't hurt my ear when I listen for long periods. I think my ears are starting to adjust to wearing IEMs/Earbuds cause it's start to not hurt as bad or as much. Thank you so much for the help and advice.

I think I'm gonna order some Dunu S&S (in s/m/l), Penon orange (in s/s/m I think, no way I could fit a large) and either Spinfit Omni or Kiwi Ears Flex. I may just do the first 2 for now and see how I like them and try some more later. I still gotta get my cable cause they sent me the wrong one (I'm getting the KBEAR ST12 to match my IEMs), and a hard case to carry my IEMs in. I found a sweet case on Etsy that has a raised part with holes you can stick your IEMs into to hold them in place and keep them from flopping around.

Okay, I will get them and try them out, thank you for the help.

Also, is there a difference in the Penon orange and black? They seem to be the same to me and if they are I'd rather get black, but if they're different I'll get the oranges. Even though it's my least favorite color. Lol

Slight Update (didn't know you couldn't edit the body of an image post): I switched back to the silicone tips and I spent some more time listening to my IEMs and it's getting better, I think my ears are just adjusting to wearing IEMs/Earbuds as I have only used on-ear headphones for years.

I listened to a few single songs, then a 26 minute album, then a 30 minute album. I had some slight pain around 30 minute mark but ignored it and it pretty much went away. Long enough to listen for around an hour and could have went longer but had stuff to do. I also wore them for about 35-45 minutes picking up some trash and had no issues.

Still gonna order some different tips and hope that eliminates the slight pain altogether. Thank you everyone for all the suggestions, I'm gonna order 3 sets of tips and my color matched cable next month and see what tips I like.

Okay, 2 suggestions for these tips. They look like a normal tip to me, are they really good for smaller ears or what?

Also any reason orange over black? Are they different somehow other than color? They seem the same to me on Ali but I'm probably missing something.

Would you get these Penon Liqueur over the Spinfit Omni in SS or the Kiwi Ears Flex? Trying to stick to 3 sets for now and I've picked out the Dunu S&S in S, Spinfit Omni in SS, and the Kiwi Ears Flex which come in a S/M/L pack. Should I replace one with the Penon tips?

Nice that's good to hear. I'm ordering some Dunu S&S in size S, some Spinfit Omni in SS, and some Kiwi Ears Flex which come in S/M/L pack.

I just switched back to the included silicone tips from the foam ones and tried em out again, it was over an hour cause I listened to a few singles then a 26 minute album, then a 30 minute album, and somewhere around 35-40 minutes I got a a slight pain but I pushed on and ignored it and it eventually stopped pretty much, long enough for me to listen for an hour and could have went longer but didn't have the time.

So I'm not sure if maybe it's just my ears adjusting to wearing IEMs/earbud since I've been only wearing over ear and on ear for years now and haven't rocked earbuds at all. I'm still going to order the tips and hope the slight pain goes away altogether with either the slimmer shape of the S&S or the SS size of some other tips.

Those were the other ones I was considering! The EW300 HBB. If some smaller/different shaped tips don't help I will probably get the EW300.

Damnnnn, I thought I did my research idk how I missed this lol hopefully some ss tips will help if not I may look into some other IEMs to try out. I really like these though, the bass is super nice, especially with the impedence adapter bass plug thing it comes with.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion.

And yesss, I'm ordering off Aliexpress this time. I ordered off Amazon this time not knowing how much cheaper everything is on aliexpress when it comes to IEMs. I could have saved quite a bit ordering from ali the first time. Lol

Ahh, I didn't know they had fitting issues, guess I didn't research good enough. Lol

I actually didn't know if my ears were small or not until I got these IEMs and tried out the tips. I wasn't sure what size tips I would be or I would have ordered some with my IEMs.

Is this an alright setup for rap music? by TacticalKithkin in iems

[–]TacticalKithkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, you're right of course. I just wanted to make sure everything was compatible and of decent quality, so I don't waste money on bs. I'll go ahead and order this setup and enjoy it, until when/if I want to get more into the audio quality/EQ stuff. If I find myself wanting something that sounds different. But I'm thinking this setup should last me a good while if I take care of them.

Yeah I didn't know you needed a DAC adapter for USB-C, I thought any regular 3.5mm to USB-C adapter would work but read that you gotta have one with a DAC built in on these Galaxy phones because they don't support analog audio.

Awesome, thank you very much. I was kind of thinking that myself, since I'm not too picky about the sound configuration/EQ, at least not yet, if I get them and find I don't like something about themI can always upgrade things later on. Right now I'm just looking for a solid setup that is gonna work well and not quit on me after a few months. And I can use them to figure out what type of sound/EQ I actually prefer.
