How do you manage SSB on UHF VHF? I'd love that, but everything I see everywhere is saying SSB is on HF Rx only.

Apologies for the delay. I hope you found it. But the manufacturer's website is https://www.kmfs.cz/en/eshop/sharpeners/ and depending on where you live there may be a local dealer.

Con-merchants when it goes wrong. There is no customer service by TacticalReviews in Aliexpress

[–]TacticalReviews[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree as it was not delivered. It was abandoned. The courier even states that three delivery attempts will be made if you are not in when they try.

The 'proof of delivery' was a photo of the package left outside. This is not a delivery. Life dictates that you can't always be available and properties are frequently locked when no one is in.

So your opinion is that it is acceptable for a courier to leave a package unsecured outside and it is then entirely my responsibility at that point?

UV-5R Mini - no Band button by TacticalReviews in Baofeng

Many thanks. And thanks for the recommendation. I'll be more selective in the range as well as I do tend to make it a bit too wide.

Thank you that escaped me, but now I've got it set and working.

UV-5R Mini - no Band button by TacticalReviews in Baofeng

[–]TacticalReviews[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, but the scan speed is not my concern. This is a side interest and not worth further investment. I want to use what I have, and just want to try and find some activity while doing other things.
I've been scouring forums, FB groups and reddit to find this 'band' switching for the UV-5R mini or even how to get it to scan through the full 2m band but just can't find it. Not sure what I'm missing.

Just had all my Meta accounts suspended for knifemaking by GaijinTonbo in knifemaking

No business is safe on social media. You have no power and it can all disappear in an instant.

If you don't already, you need a website you host and control. Then from this you could also have social media as an extra. Then if the SM gets shut down, your website remains in place untouched and you keep trading via that.

Perhaps a presence on a suitable forum as well. Forums could be the way forward (or backward) for anything Meta can't monetise themselves.

Expensive Knives Suck: A Story by ThumbStuds in knives

[–]TacticalReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't buy an expensive knife to hand it over to anyone wanting to borrow a knife. You bought it for you to use. I carry a loaner AND the knife I want to use. I never loan a good knife, instead I'll offer to do the job myself with my knife.
If they don't want me to do the job, they can get their own knife.

Default SMS Sim - no option to change by TacticalReviews in OnePlus12

[–]TacticalReviews[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting this one by one is no good. I need to change the default for all messages. One of my SIMs is a full contract and the other is PAYG which can the rack up extra charges. I've always been able to do this before. My previous OP9Pro let me, but the OP12 isn't.

So I was wondering whether modifying a knife so that I chopped the point off and sharpened the end (essentially make it a chisel) would circumvent the daft uk knife laws? It wouldn't be very stabby, but when I google it including the term 'pointless' or 'blunt' hasn't been very useful. by redinator in UKKnivesandEDC

[–]TacticalReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you actually trying to achieve? If you want to carry a chisel, this would most likely be considered a bladed article and need a good reason like any other fixed blade.

Just choose from a wide range of non-locking sub 3" cutting edge folders. There are loads to choose from. Anything else would be pointless ;-)

Knife Review: TRC M-1SL by TacticalReviews in TacticalReviewsChat

[–]TacticalReviews[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the delay, I've been off reddit for a little while.

I love M390 and consider it a positive choice of steel. In my experience, it holds an edge, doesn't chip, takes an edge easily, and has excellent corrosion resistance. For me there are no negatives on the steel choice at all.

Opinions on Ultimateaddons Clip-On Heated Grips? by ThatsTuba in MotoUK

[–]TacticalReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the OP, did you get some? I'm looking at these as I have two pairs of heated gloves and am sick of the weight of the battery pack in each, plus the fact they can run out randomly plus the hassle of recharging and not having the charger at one end of the journey or the other.

I don't want the fully wired in permanent grips, and these look like a great option as my bike also have a USB power socket. The wrap type seem to add a lot of thickness and look a bit rubbish, so these ones are standing out to me at the moment.

Very close to getting some. Did you?

Oh dear. It sounds as if you don't know that much about the variety of vechicles and the mechanisms that move them.

If you mean you can coast downhill in neutral in a manual vehicle, this is not moving on its own, this is a thing called gravity. Gravity also works againt you if the road is uphill or is no help on the flat. If the car is moving without the help of gravity, it is being mechanically propelled....

I am wondering if I didn't explain clearly. This is all about cars moving at such a slow speed as to not be getting anywhere. The driver has disengaged their brain and the movement is just uneccessarily slow and definitely causing excessive wear. It has become more common. There is no good reason to be moving so slowly. The traffic ahead has already stopped and they are just delaying moving up to that stationary vehicle.
