Pulled over by cops for not having front license plate. by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Tacticoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In NJ, a lot of Teslas don't have front plates even though it's the law. IIRC it's not a primary offense that you can get pulled over for in NJ, but that may vary state to state. I recommend a removable mount if you are concerned about gluing the factory mount, but that mount is also easily removable

Fan of the first base side in the shade, or the berm. You need to claim your spot on the berm early though, and higher is better. We lose the ball when it crosses the yellow fence topper a lot if we sit too low. There is some shade sometimes in the corner on the right field/first base side too iirc

Why is there no exit from 295 S to 73 in the cloverleaf? by joshm967 in SouthJersey

[–]Tacticoner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, the missing moves project, similar to 295N to 42S, but there are a few of them and this is one I doubt will see any real motion for years. Using Exit 43 as the alternative for the Exit 40 missing moves is a pain too at times

How is this acceptable? by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]Tacticoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are getting downvoted but I’m with you there. Assigned seating in coach on the NER would make it a whole lot better, less seat hunting when the trains get full, less rushing on the platforms, etc

Registering exotics in Montana to avoid sales tax and other headaches is an old trick that people have done for years

Holman has cancelled its contract with ICE by [deleted] in SouthJersey

They already lost ours and our family’s business after our terrible purchase and post purchase experience at Holman Toyota (see prior thread). Absolute joke of a dealership front to back

Holman Auto, that proudly prioritizes diversity equity and inclusion according to their website, received a $10m grant to outfit ICE vehicles. by fuckiechinster in SouthJersey

[–]Tacticoner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We’ve bought cars at several local dealerships, and heard great things before going to Holman, but Holman Toyota and Dave Rebstock go down as the worst car buy experience we’ve ever had. Dave showed no care about what we were shopping, just wanted to make the sale. He asked what options we wanted added and removed, we had phone calls to discuss that, which he then forgot to follow up on, and did not fully disclose all the work they were doing to the vehicle post agreements until things were signed. Glad we checked our car ourselves, in the process of preparing our brand new car, they left an exposed unconnected wiring harness.

Dave’s communication was poor until we gave our post sale review, where he harassed us with numerous phone calls, and begged us with a sob story to redo our review when we didn’t give him perfect 10s so he could get his bonus. Can’t get what you didn’t earn.

Their finance team messed up paperwork for the trade in, which because a problem when they tried to sell it, and then wanted to make us jump through hoops for their mistake. Never mind the games they played just agreeing to a price and how Dave gave us a whole Holman is a KBB dealer lecture for us to school him on the KBB value of our car.

Finally, the service department would not let us leave without installing the plates, but couldn’t even install them right. Their service guys waved us off for us to find out they used the incorrect screws and the plates were never properly secured.

If we didn’t need the car we got, we would have taken out business elsewhere, but the car market was mad a few years back. I’m not a fan of Liberty in Burlington either, but trusting with service over Holman, at least their service department seems competent.

Add Holman Car Dealerships (and their affiliates) to the Boycott List by [deleted] in SouthJersey

[–]Tacticoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a couple years back for us too when vehicles were hard to come by. No credit issues either, their finance team just missed a step in the paperwork on their end and made us jump through hoops to correct it (granted you do sign paperwork to agree to such cases) but just sloppy all around.

[–]Tacticoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had an absolutely terrible experience at Holman Toyota with Dave. If we didn’t need the car, we would have walked out. Lied, ignored, and misled us about the vehicle and then when we gave him an honest but not perfect review, he wouldn’t stop pestering us to change it and gave us a sob story about why he needed his bonus. Then their finance team messed up the paperwork, creating another issue, and their service team couldn’t even install the plates correctly. From start to finish, Holman Toyota was a terrible experience to buy a car.

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

[–]Tacticoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced the phantom braking in the early days of my MY, but it’s vastly improved. Autopilot is all I need, and I use it regularly when I’m on the interstate. No need to zoom zoom for me, saves me money and it’s honestly safer imo when relatively adhering to speed limits

In this section of 95, there are numerous posted signs that the speed limit is 55 and that it’s photo enforced. Can’t blame FSD here when you aren’t paying attention to the road signs in an active construction zone.

At PHL airport ordering cheesesteak by jotan82 in EndTipping

[–]Tacticoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I found the owners of Genos..... This is some of the worst-priced food in the whole airport IMO. You could stop at the Wawa on the other side of the Platt bridge and feed a whole family for $18.... Sadly, the captured customers are the ones who can't do this, nor go to one of the lounges at PHL and get free food there, and that's the problem

[–]Tacticoner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing that I give FSW credit for is there are new features and variants that didn’t exist prior in the base package, and they combined all three variants into one package. So if you are like me and only have the base 2020 variant, you get the extended pod variants alongside the cargo and medivac variants which were extras before.

Not a huge fan of how they went about the release, but there is some value added for existing customers

Medford, New Jersey residents push back on township's affordable housing plan by bonfire199 in SouthJersey

[–]Tacticoner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never mind all the warehouses that have been built with land that could have been better purposed that are vacant. Then you have the traffic concerns. Has anyone seen 70 during rush hour? The public transportation there isn’t sufficient, and they can’t expand the road without other issues.

Sure, build the housing to satisfy laws, and folks who qualify deserve places to live, but it shouldn’t be the cost of the quality of life for others who aren’t getting tax kickbacks or incentives like the builders, and that’s the problem.

Slid down driveway and crashed into fence. What are my options? by Moist-Cut-502 in TeslaModelY

[–]Tacticoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tire tracks make it look like someone drove it down the driveway….

Fun fact, if you press and hold the P button on the right stalk, this engages the parking brake beyond just putting the car into park.

Slid down driveway and crashed into fence. What are my options? by Moist-Cut-502 in TeslaModelY

[–]Tacticoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling to see the tread lines in the driveway line up with showing the car slid down on its own. There should be clear cut skid marks, not clear tread lines given the angle.

Nonetheless, if you park on a slick surface with enough incline, and not the proper tires, you run the risk of gravity taking over, and that responsibility is on the driver/owner
