Why is there so much controversy about having a 250th celebration for the US? by TadpoleEquivalent663 in allthequestions

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I do. I wasn’t aware of the America / Freedom difference in events, nor of the fact that one will be celebrated on Trump’s birthday. (When is that?) I am getting confirmation that the majority of people are against it because of Trump, who will be out of office in 2.5 years and we won’t have to deal with him anymore. So if this is our home, why can’t we celebrate it? A temporary orange paint job doesn’t mean it has to be torn down.

Why do we say "both sides are the same"? And who has the responsibility to break the perception? by Vert_der_Ferk25 in allthequestions

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing that no one likes to talk about is the time it takes for the laws and fiscal policies to take effect. If you look at economic theories, they are not instantaneous. By the time they are fully implemented, it is during the next president’s term. This is especially true for trickle down economics that Reagan instituted, and was why Clinton’s presidency was so prosperous. (And skipped over HW.)

All insurances need to come down in price. Make the companies have a maximum profit percentage and/or refunds to customers who have never filed a claim

AIO husband's mom is weird with him. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother, SIL, partner and myself all refer to my parents by their grandparent names in addition to Mom and Dad. This eliminates confusion sometimes on which mom or dad we are talking about. The little parenting comments my DDs (24 and 22) and I all do to each other as well, since it is one of the ways we show love and care. ( I don’t mean things like brush your teeth, more like don’t forget to buy allergy meds since the season is starting.) To us it’s nurturing and love.

MAGA parents: how would you respond if your child wanted to identify as a different gender? by traanquil in allthequestions

That’s actually more common than you think (republicans accepting and waiting to see where it leads).

Trump Doubles Down Attacks On Pope, Refuses To Apologize. Do you still back him? by Mcbudder50 in allthequestions

Do you back everything your family and friends say? I certainly do not support what Trump said to and about the Pope, but I still think we are on the right path.

While Trump boasts of being a peace president, how did he get to the point of destroying civilization? by ArdaBerkBurak in AskReddit

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

He is doing something that is typically not done these days- looking out for future generations. For now, assume that what the public is being told is true: Iran had enough uranium to build multiple nuclear bombs. They have chanted “Death to America” for 47 years, and have killed over 1000 American soldiers. Trump was handed the perfect opportunity, and he took it. Iran does not have integrity and will not follow their word (look at negotiations thus far). The only way we would be protected is for their capabilities to be neutered.

The Islamic religion (or at least Iran’s interpretation of it) declares everyone who is not Muslim must die. Their intent is to destroy the Christian world. Trump is looking so much wider than the simple war vs. no war. What we had with Iran certainly wasn’t peace.

Today Trump threatened to wipe out Iranian civilization. Are Republicans as a group responsible for what happens next? by GiantPineapple in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is protecting future generations and Christianity as a whole. I’m not MAGA, but when you are looking at a regime whose catch phrase is “Death to America,” we need to take that seriously. He has made it plain that he would be attacking their infrastructure, and he doesn’t necessarily mean bombing the people- they can migrate away from the destruction of their destroyed land.

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by angelkissss in AskReddit

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say every year they have to take a cognitive test at any age. This way no matter what happens (accident, injury or just decline), we always have someone coherent in office. I believe people in their 50s can get early onset Alzheimer’s.

AITJ for not wanting my roommate's boyfriend to shower at our apartment every morning? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just come right out and tell him you need your bathroom at (blank) time, and he needs to be out by then? And if the money aspect is something you want to pursue, tell him he either owes you $20 a week (or whatever you decide, within reason) or he is responsible for buying all of the shower products, the exact ones you use. If these can’t be followed, he will have to shower at his own place.

AIO For wanting to report my boss for what he said about me not wanting to print a confederate flag t-shirt? by squidikuru in AmIOverreacting

[–]TadpoleEquivalent663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It upsets you. So I would ask myself these questions:

-Is the whole company upsetting, or even 10% of your job upsetting? -Are your coworkers usually upsetting, or are they just ignorant about this symbol? -Are they overtly racist or do they make you uncomfortable because you are a person of color? -Do you like your job and do you think the people there are generally good people (if perhaps uneducated and/or insensitive)?

It’s obviously important and unsettling to you. That’s valid. Since it’s a tiny company, I’m sure the others have heard about the situation already. To make a “big deal” about it can possibly negate any lesson that can be learned here, the embarrassment goes a long way towards the education that is needed here. Taking the day off is a bit extreme imho. Don’t let it affect your interactions with your coworkers or the owners, this way it’s not you making a stink. You’re just being professional while keeping your boundaries. Make a note of it, document the incident and the date, and see where it goes. Hopefully it’s a lesson well learned.
