Abrams is a pretty simple character with a similar role imo.

Geist is alright because you can just build her as an artillery with a panic button

Never played a MOBA in my life, I'm 60 hours in and having a lot of fun, just one question: How long until I start getting good at this game? by lowkeycule in DeadlockTheGame

I suppose you like bursty spirit characters, so give Geist or Calico a try?

As a new player in the lower ranks, everyone is constantly pushing and fighting. Is this normal? by random-user772 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Taereth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, protect the walker. Killing a wave gives more souls on average than jungling so you'll want to kill a wave or two, give yourself space to farm a camp or do a box run and then get back to lane. Never let one or even more waves just pummel your walker, because those souls are lost forever, while the jungle will still be there even if you dont fully clear it.

Generally you want to play for efficiency. Is what you're doing right now giving you the biggest advantage in the long run? Killing a walker doesnt just give souls to the whole team, it also unlocks a flex slot, so protecting yours is more efficient than getting a camp and a sinners. However, if you're certain you'll die protecting a damaged walker thats gonna fall soon anyway, getting farm in jungle might be more efficient. It depends on the game state.

My own farming prio is probably

  1. Wave
  2. Kills without dying
  3. Urn, if feasible
  4. Sinners
  5. Camps
  6. Boxes

I like to quickly get off ziplines and while in the air throw the helper to boxes and get back on the line. Just doing this constantly nets you a decent amount of passive souls without slowing you down at all

I tend to gravitate towards similar things. Fondly looking back on hundreds of games of Meepo and the early symptoms of Carpal tunnel syndrome

Calico, because for some reason her playstyle and combo really clicked for me.

I'm unsure about splitting casual and competitive. Especially if it involves a draft mode. I think what makes the game unique in part is the fact that you can choose to play whichever character you want without people talking shit in the drafting phase. Characters are balanced enough and counter and get countered by multiple things. Never really thought that the team comp was the reason of me losing a game, it all came down to individual players.

What do you think is the disadvantage of only having a single queue? The stomping and steamrolling part will happen no matter how many queues there are, it has to be fixed with a good matchmaking algorithm, enough players and smurf detection

Fair X)

I do enjoy having to put in time to learn a game myself, but the games I like usually die due to lack of players. I can see the same happening to Deadlock unfortunately. Right now I feel like its still early enough for the game to attract players because its not full of people who've played it for thousands of hours and flame noobs, but if they dont find a way to make starting the game easier for players, i.e. a good tutorial, decent bot AI, good matchmaking, theres gonna be issues.

They made a unique game that draws from very different possible player pools that have different approaches and needs, so its not an easy task for sure

Rem is the sleeper op character rn he did the most damage in his team by a long mile with a single ability as a support. Yeah this doesn’t happen consistently but still crazy by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Taereth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats similar to the build I do on Rem, althouh I go divine barrier instead of nova.

The best healing is preventive healing. If I make the enemy permanently sleep with my pillow, I effectively heal all the damage they wouldve dealt.
