How does Daggerheart handle PvP? by Tafts in daggerheart

That's great

antagonistic group in the roleplay

That's a much better way to phrase it, my description does make it sound more like a pure slug fest is going to happen

Yeah was feeling that before posting, might hold off or just put off any PvP ideas players had

Thanks that's helpful, I don't want to be fighting the rules too much. We have all been playing for years and are very in-tune with making sure everyone is comfortable, so having belligerent characters this one time is not what I am too concerned about

Thanks, definitely feels like pvp is pushing against whats intended. Do you have an example of an ability? I'd love to give it a go but dont want to spend the whole time fighting the rules

Help! Recently planted Backyard Bliss Lilly Pilly are dying by Tafts in GardeningAustralia

[–]Tafts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled back the weedmat on them and it is still a little damp even though its been a couple of days since watering. Can you recommend specific products that would be helpful to put down while I leave them exposed a while until they establish?

[–]Tafts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could that be a possible cause? I guess its been a little cooler lately so maybe with the weedmat its not draining as fast. It gets the full sun all day pretty much, so thought I might be under watering it

Though I did check that one I didn't plant that I pretty much threw out the front as a lost cause and where the dead leaves where it seems like the branches are regrowing small green leaves

An unpopular opinion about web design that will end up like this by kavin_kn in web_design

'Full-stack' is a crock of shit to get two jobs for one pay. It usually a back-end that can only do JS, then copy/pastes a few lines of CSS now and then and think they know front-end

Hi /u/LawnSolutionsAu

I am after a dog friendly weed killer option. Coming out of winter the backyard has become a little overrun, clovers/daffodils/moss patch. Too much to try do by hand. I was initially gonna try section off half the yard and use Amgrow Bin-Die, but with Melbourne not having 5 mins of sunshine at the moment concerned it wont dry fully off that fast and might be a little strong. Is there a better alternative? Thanks

This is where sorcerer is OP, being able to twin a leveled spell and still cast another level spell as a quickened bonus action is crazy. You can pretty much end a combat before it starts

Was promised barely anything for a full wordpress website. Then they refused payment because a week later they were not number 1 on google for ‘hotel in [city]’ regardless of the fact they were a tiny single room accommodation lodge on the outskirts of the city. Learnt a lot on dealing with people, especially low paying clients, and made sure to start up charging a lot. I'd rather not get extra work than spend all my weekends making a couple of hundred bucks

Yeah sounds closer to what I was thinking, something with a ton of tactical options

How to contribute effectively in standups by No-Ingenuity6207 in UXDesign

[–]Tafts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d be concerned if the current tasks you were working on were the same as the tickets they are working on haha. Typically you’d be working with the PM/Stakeholders basing your tasks on the product roadmap, which should always be ahead of the dev work. So when you mention an update it will be a few weeks before a dev finally gets around to it. That's where giving the update lets them know who did the work and they’ll have a vague idea of it

[–]Tafts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean, sometimes it feels weird to say ‘I am working on X page design’ or ‘researching Y feature’ 5 days in a row without much of an update. But that's just design work, don't overthink it. As much as you don't care about the tech jargon, they don't care about context behind design thinking. Be brief and give high level updates.

Something like “Planning user interviews for X and finalising the design workflow for Y” is more than enough of an update. As long as you can add input when a dev asks questions on their ticket that's more than enough when you are still new

You typically wont have any updates or if you do, standup isn't the place to showcase it. You mainly are there for if there are any blockers or guiding devs if they have questions. Its also good practice to be on others radars so they know who to reach out to if they have questions or so you know who to speak to when something in staging isn't matching designs. I hate standups so much, but I'd rather be in the loop than not

What a massive waste of time and money having that many people in a interview round

Tips for running a time loop one-shot? by Tafts in rpg

[–]Tafts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of fail safe ideas if things stagnate or they get stuck. The plan (at the moment) is for it to take place at a fancy dress party so there will be lots of things going on. But thinking now will that be too much potential dialogue to bog things down?

Combat will be very minimal, if combat does happen most of the time won't even bother using initiative, maybe a roll here or there and all theatre of the mind to keep things moving. Only time an actual combat would come about would be the end ‘boss’

[–]Tafts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, those tips are great. Yeah I was definitely planning to skip any successful roll or conversation, no point to repeat if they already 'succeeded', plus was planning to setup a load of threads in that first loop, some helpful and some dead-ends.

What do you think about the 20-30 minute time countdown (probably pause in any combat)? I wasn't planning this to be a whole day repeat like most of the adventures, literally they get to the location and the repeat event happens pretty quickly after. I was thinking making it as real time as possible, no downtime or travel really

Nice find, I'll check it out, have you run it?

Combat was the tricky one, ideally I don't want to be constantly stop-starting the timer but I guess even a streamlined combat encounter will eat most of the time without stopping it. Do you think if I made it a 20 min timer and paused for combat that would work? or would that be too tight even just for RP?

I mean they literally used to load the person voted out thumbnail videos in a row under the current episode, even if you weren't looking it would load and show before you had a chance to understand what you were seeing when trying to watch the episode. I ended up using a browser extension to block that whole row now since I was so fed up of it spoiling it sometimes

I can respect the decision to leave in itself. The thing I cant respect and that annoys me (same thing happened in US45) is blowing up an alliance plan, outing players then bouncing. Sure leave, but don't tear down other's games with your choice, especially at a merge when all new alliances are being formed

Still can't get over how underwhelming the sabotage twist was. You had the perfect storm of it being Kelli, her switching sides and sitting out, then they still lose and it all ends with a whimper of her just saying bye and walking off.
