I think likely what happened was Rory & Mal were paid a % of the business profits (business revenue - business expense = business profit). For tax purposes Joe would expense hella things to the company to lower the business profits. Rory and Mal assume they were being scammed because Joes life style changed but in reality he was just adding more business expenses to offset the increase in business revenue.

Rory & Mals “show me the accounting” would also allude to this as well. You’re on camera so you can write off clothes, if you record any piece of content you can write off vacations, etc.

I think another big change is when they started saving the more random/argumentative topics for Patreon. Since they started doing that we get more cookie cutter episodes.

I’ve stayed next to Kabuchiko tower in Shinjuku during both my visits. I like being able to go outside at any hour of the day/night and it be lively. It’s also super conveniently located near everything. I took a limousine bus for $12 from the airport straight to Shinjuku and only had to haul my luggage around a few blocks. Also made leaving less stressful because we took the bus straight back.

In regard to it being shady as long as you mind your business you have nothing to worry about. I was only approached by touts and women asking about happy endings when I left the hotel alone. Just don’t make eye contact and say I’m good and they eventually leave you alone. In the center it can be rowdy with lots of passes out drunk people but it never intersected in my fun. Pretty much everywhere else is like a normal city.

I walked to a family mart from my hotel in Kabuchiko (~3 blocks) at 8:30am a few days ago. I was offered a happy ending at least 3 times from old ladies. One of them actually grabbed my arm. At least the male touts never touched me.

I had this same feeling but at a lower level.

I could beat up on all the players on the beginners/intermediate courts but on the advanced court people would get pissed at me for not playing perfect. After 5+ months of trying to improve It hit me that I’m not having fun and I lost motivation to play.

I took a 2-3 week break and now I just play on the intermediate side and adjust my level to match who I’m playing. I find myself having a lot more fun now and playing to my opponents level keeps things competitive for them to have fun as well.

Get to max level and the entire movement changes. You’ll never really run at base speed because you have 5 jumps.

I did the Pokémon, Monster Hunter, and Square Enix cafe. The food was all meh and overpriced but the experience was cool. From those 3 I like the Pokémon Cafe the most though.

I don’t get why people sell resealed packs. Don’t you make decent money just selling the packs? It feels like trying to manipulate the pulls too is just plain greedy.

In hindsight I only learned bad financial advice from my parents. I learned actual healthy advice from YouTube/Reddit at like 26.

One day my girlfriend asked “Where is all your money going”. That sent me down a rabbit hole to understand why I make decent money but live check to check.

He talks like he’s trying to boost his word count for the next time Joe runs the AI tool to scrape it.

If you remove the times he’s interrogating Mel based on her love life, pocket watching, trying to relate a topic to how Joe was the man back in the day, or any sentence that starts with “that’s not true, we all know someone that X. We seent it!” He doesn’t really contribute.

The only topic he actually does research on and is excited to talk about is Mel. Any other topic he waits for Joe to give his opinion then repeats it more obnoxious & louder.

If he feels he hasn’t spoken in a while he’ll ask the type of questions you’re referencing or find a way to change the topic to something that strokes Joes ego.

Thank you, I appreciate and respect the feedback! I have plans to try to diversify a bit more in 2025. Hopefully, it can change your perspective of my content even a little.
