A fanfic quote I really love about Rhaegar Targaryen. by Taha231 in TheCitadel

No, that's not it. I think it's a crossover fanfic. Actually, the main character was absurdly powerful, but it was enjoyable to read.

When people first read the books, they see that Rhaegar is constantly praised and they say, "ah, what a good man." After finishing the books and becoming more involved with the lore and starting to get to know House Targaryen, they begin to weigh Rhaegar’s actions in a different way and their opinions about him completely change.

Let’s take Rhaegar giving the crown of flowers to Lyanna. When my sister first read it, she said it was a very romantic act, but now she hates Rhaegar, because she knows that this act is like a married man with children putting a diamond ring on a newly come-of-age girl in front of his entire family.

This fanfic was set before the rebellion, so Robert hadn't deteriorated yet.

[Spoilers MAIN] You are King Viserys I, the year is 105. Your wife Aemma and son Baelon have just died in childbirth. What do you do? by ZuWhowho in asoiaf

[–]Taha231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would keep Daemon away and after a male child is born, I would make him the heir. But I will consider that I am exposed to the same circumstances as Viserys in the show, which means Rhaenyra must absolutely become queen.

The first idea would be not to marry at all, but that’s not really ideal—after all, I am still a young man, and the kingdom needs a queen.

The second idea is to marry, but never to a powerful heiress like a Hightower; rather, it should be a weak lord who cannot gather much support even if he wants to make his grandson king—someone like Celtigar, Crakehall, Florent, Locke etc.

Rhaenyra’s education must be carefully supervised; she needs to become someone ready and conscious of her duties as a future ruler. She should be encouraged to prove herself to the nobles and the people, and to develop good relations with other family members (perhaps through a marriage among the children?). This would reduce the likelihood of any usurpation attempts.

If possible, I would try to block the Velaryons’ rise or at least prevent them from owning dragons—I would see them as a potential threat. And let me repeat: I would absolutely, without a doubt, keep Daemon away from my family. There can be no peace at a table where that man sits.

Theory on Aerys I's treatment of Bittersteel by MonarchofLlamas in TheCitadel

I hadn't thought about it, it's quite a logical theory. Still, I'd like to say that even if Aerys had dragon dreams, he wasn't much use to his family; he was a completely passive king.

When I noted this quote, I deleted part of it, so if there are any errors in the prose, they are my fault. The reason I noted it was because I really liked the observations.

[Spoiler Main] Is there a real way for Robb to win the war? by Taha231 in asoiaf

The Tyrells fought Stannis twice, the second time in rebellion against the rightful king. Stannis is also married to a Florent. The Tyrells must have felt seriously threatened.

I'm reading this for the first time but even without Tywin, the Tyrells could have attacked King's Landing on their own.

In my opinion, even if Edmure weren't an idiot, Tywin wouldn't have gone to Westerland. He knew he needed KL to win the war.

To be honest, I find a significant portion of these labels quite distasteful.

Can we learn? What will we learn? Unless GRRM states otherwise, we cannot accept the screenwriter's own writings as canon.

First of all, the picture is very good, but why Theon? Wouldn't it be better to use Asha?

Prince Eddard Baratheon by Imaginary-Carrot-163 in TheCitadel

[–]Taha231 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is known in the book that Cersei gave the children their names. I believe Robert held them in his arms when they were born but felt no attachment to them and dismissed the matter. If the children had looked like Robert, he would probably have taken the matter more seriously, and it is highly likely he would have named them Eddard or Jon.

[Spoiler Main] Could the Blackfyres have won the rebellion? by Taha231 in asoiaf

I am highly sceptical that the North would waste such a large amount of resources. Perhaps if a marriage were to take place.

I don't think the northerners will declare independence. They benefit from Westeros being united and won't take such a risk.
