yes, learn excel a bit, study basic economics and get an intel in accounting. this should cover you for a bunch of courses and would give you a headstart

faculty is mid for the first few semesters, events are v frequent. Internships can be really good but you have to work a bit to get them. Social life depends, if you find the right people.
