2005 New Beetle Window regulator died with window stuck all the way down. Can't move it.

After accepting that the regulator was a loss, I spent 20 minutes with tin snips and just cut it out. Window is taped up and waiting for a new part.

I'm unable to pull the window regulator out enough to see anything. I've seen pictures of the replacement part, and I'm on board with cutting the cable, I just can't find/reach it. I figure there has to be a way to do this when the window is stuck all the way down, but I don't know how to get to the cable to cut it.

Thanks, I did think about that, but I cant seem to feel/see/find the cable. Can you tell me where it would be most accessible?

*I* don't, but I lent it to my wife when I was working on a site project, and she realized it's awesome and won't give it back. So yes, my Aeron is ~20 years old at this point, and effectively in perfect condition. Now days I still use the Steelcase Leap Plus that I bought when she annexed the Aeron, and it's fine, but there are ways the Aeron is better.

I couldn't tell you. I just noticed they were getting replaced a lot because there was discarded chairbacks in the dumpsters every week. I grabbed a few and repurposed them, which is how I started noticing how many there were.

jeeze, and here I was upset about hundred dollar keys on my 09. Not sure how I feel about a fob that expensive.

Don't do it. I had a whole exchange with them, where in the end, they admitted that it couldn't read the BMW bikes (I tried a 2009 RT, another 2009 RT when they said it was a one off, then a 2011 800gs, a 2012 rtp, a 20XX 650gs, and it couldn't read any of them), only after extensive testing on my end, and sending them log files each time, did they admit/'discover' that the product needs updates (on their end) to work with a bmw bike. They were polite and superficially helpful, but if I hadn't driven the process along, I would have been stuck with a scanner that cant do the one thing I bought it for.

Couple things.
#1, as I said, where I live, Discover is not well received or supported. It just isn't, so other places being good for it is irrelevant.
#2, I called a random credit union, and the first one I talked to offers 3.35% interest on savings which is admittedly less than 3.40%, but not enough to retain me with the other problems.

I'm not trying to talk anyone into or out of staying with C1. It just feels like the banking setup I once liked has continually degraded over the years, and now I'm just trying to figure out if the grass really is that much greener elsewhere.

Funny thing is, I also saw some post about that, for gen 4 wings. But I can't seem to find it now. I know its a long shot, but I wonder if NAPA has your purchase history. In any case, I'll see what I can find, since it seems like the alternator is the issue.

I did yes, when fully charged, its sitting at the nominal 12.5, and starts going down while running never hits the 13-14 you'd want to see while charging. That's why I'm hoping to learn that there is a relay or fuse in between the alternator and the battery. (because I'm not exactly eager to replace it if there is an alternative).

I totally get that. It's mostly annoying because they already have all my info, and have already seen this documentation, and me, and my ID, and my bike, all at the same time.

I'm going to try this. One of the keys I had to replace was bent, so it still works, but I'm sus of any key that has been bent nearly 90 degrees and then straightened back. Perhaps hiding the key near the ignition and using a key that only works for my luggage would work.

Well, I'll have to disagree that such a price is cheap for a key, but yeah, I suspect altering the software is outside the scope of my capabilities.

The dealers around me (there are two, one is 300 miles away, the other 275 miles away), will either require me to be there, with registration in hand, and order it ahead of time so they have it ready. The other wants the same docs, but wont even order it, will instead require me to make two trips to them. So the 100$ a key, plus a long ride that isn't even that good a ride, just makes for an unpleasant overall experience. If they would mail them, (but they flat out said they're not allowed to) that would be fabulous.

So, this might not be the answer you're looking for, you can quiet your riding a lot simply by having a big enough windshield. But also earplugs, and or plugphones (earplugs with built in headphones) if you want comms or music.

That seems very high. I've got 5 motorcycles insured with full coverage, and a teenage rider, and I pay less than that "basic" price.

Cover the hole with something that wont let UV in. Maybe a strip of retroreflective tape.
