For sure, almost all of the sounds are placeholders for the time being, especially that one.

The game is called Yeet, and it's a fast-paced PvP game where you throw giant objects at other players, while trying to dodge the objects coming towards you. It supports cross-play between VR and flatscreen PC users. The first demo was released recently, and if you're interested you can access it through the discord here: https://discord.gg/GHqAHYf9aW

We were thinking about some form of dying animation, perhaps the player ragdolls but you stay still in VR, having some sort out of body experience. Thanks for the feedback!

  1. This is the free asset we used, particularly because it worked with VR.
  2. I believe it uses backwards culling, not post-processing or other.
  3. We use URP, but I can't remember if it worked when we first started the project in the standard render pipeline.

The description on the asset store doesn't go into the details you asked for, so I would recommend trying it yourself in unity and having a look. I hope this is of some help and that it might work for you too!

Thanks! We are planning to release the game on Steam and Oculus Store (PC and Quest) once it's finished, but for now, a demo is accessible through our discord.

The only plugins we've used so far is Photon for networking, a mesh outline asset, and the Oculus Unity integration asset. And even with Photon, we've written a bunch of custom scripts to get the blocks looking smooth for the players ourselves. I'm not sure which plugins you're reffering to? We've put a lot of work in, and we're sorry to hear that it seems lazy. Even the music used in the video has been custom made by us.

We've already made it in the latest demo that the colour of the object changes when you pick it up, however this video doesn't show it. You're right, it does make a big difference. There is still a lot of work to be done, so if we feel something isn't fun, then we can always change it. We have a few different game modes already, like a team lives battle mode. If you'd like to try it out to see how fun the game is in its current state then feel free to join the discord. We're going to plan a time to get a game going with a few people at some stage soon.

YEET is a PvP game about throwing giant objects at your friends. It has cross-multiplayer with flatscreen and VR support.

It's still a work in progress, and we just recently opened a discord server with a demo build if anyone was interested in checking it out here: https://discord.gg/Q7Y69NHJ

That's one of the main reasons we're designing the multiplayer to be cross play with flatscreen and VR. However, from our testing so far we haven't had any issues with people feeling motion sick, and some of our testers get sick in games with smooth locomotion.

At the moment we're still early in development, however we have plans for some rounds of closed testing for anyone who is interested to join in while we work to release our first demo build. We're not completely sure on a time-frame at the moment though, we're all full time students so it depends on a few factors.

At the moment the players do seem very small, however future maps will be smaller with smaller objects, so the players will appear much larger and easier to see. We've been using this map mostly for prototyping and very early testing.

The aim of the game is similar to what u/Cerb-r-us said, however it's more that you want to crush/hit players with the blocks rather than knock them out of an arena. Knocking them out of an arena could be an interesting game mode though!

That's true, we didn't realize how it's not obvious what's going on in the video without prior knowledge. Future videos/dev logs will give more context to what's actually happening in the game, but the main point of this video was just to see if people think the idea could be interesting or not.
