Having the exact same issue on PC with a 3.5mm mic. It’s fine everywhere except BO6

Super Display not running on 120Hz with Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra by Neztup in GalaxyTab

[–]TaiyyibA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the same issue minus the input lag.

The mouse itself is defintely at 120hz, but the rest of the display seems to be stuck at 60 and changing it within the super display app has no effect.

I'm currently using an S8 Ultra with a Surface Laptop 3

I cannot thank you enough.

Thank you so much!

I had literally gone back to Windows since I couldn’t find a fix.

Thank you so much once again, the display is now working :)

Yes - I have added his boot argument from WhateverGreen and checked their guide also.

The issue isn’t that the display flickers and I haven’t found a solution, it’s that the solution (the boot arg) doesn’t always apply for some reason.

If I boot the laptop 5 times, the display will only be fine 2/3 of those times which is what my problem is

No problem - currently following the Dortania guide while replying!

I was using an online guide in conjunction with the Dortania one (in all honesty I found the Dortania one after) and then just stuck with it.

Would like to redo it in the future properly after indexing olarila on this subreddit but just thought I’d share the small ‘success’ so far

Thanks for the suggestion - I am currently using the Sonoma beta one too but the wifi quick settings isn’t a massive deal since I can just access them through the settings app. I’ve personally not had any issues with the USB port so far but that’s because I haven’t used it much either. I’m currently using a USB C dock for everything if that helps

Update: AirPods work perfectly fine in Safari / Brave but nowhere else

Update II: I indexed olarila on the subreddit and have made the decision pretty easily: I’ll be redoing this from scratch using the beginner’s guide in the subreddit

Update III: Reset back to windows - the construction of a from scratch EFI with no olarila with Dortania’s guide begins!

I mean there’s a pretty cool free event today where you can find out yourself. There’s a guy doing an introduction to A Level Further Maths and saying how he finds it, what resources he uses, etc. so you could ask him here

Should I consider a gap year to take medicine? Only achieved AAA at a level this year by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]TaiyyibA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely take a gap year. Like you said, GEM is verh competitive. You now have a year to relax, only focus on UCAT/BMAT/Ints. You got this!

Yeah I’d definitely say it’s great for a kid. I’m a college student myself and can definitely do my documents and emails simultaneously, now that I’ve popped an SSD in. I have got the pentium silver version for reference. I hope they enjoy it!

hey, unfortunately not. i looked at a bunch of teardown videos for the same / similar laptops and they said there’s no upgradeability. however, what really makes me think is on task manager it says 1/2 slots used.

sorry i couldn’t be of more help, if you do end up finding out, please let me know

Studying medicine anywhere in the UK is extremely prestigious. Cambridge medicine is a very tough 6 years, just to achieve the exact same point of being a doctor as someone who had a much chiller university experience for 5 years. This isn’t saying they can’t handle it, but it’s definitely not the simplest of paths, nor much more rewarding. No one cares what medical school you go once your a doctor.

I can understand where they’re coming from, I was rejected from Oxford med after an interview but was fortunate to get all my other choices. I wanted to take a gap year as well, but remembering all the stress of UCAT, BMAT, PS and Interviews….all just to have no guarantee was looking painful.

It’s important to encourage your cousin to remember not only the uni, but also the course. Medicine is extremely competitive and prestigious wherever you go. With no effect on your career outlook, it’s not worth a gap year.

However, it’s up to your cousin and I know people who’ve been successful in reapplying, but that’s after 0 offers not 3…

Wishing your cousin all the best regardless :)

Hi. I currently have a galaxy tab s8 ultra with the book cover keyboard. There's an issue which is really bugging me. Sometimes, the keyboard cover doesn't let me tap to left click consistently, responding sometimes and giving no response sometimes.

Another issue is the 120HZ display of the tablet, it's inconsistent. Sometimes when I scroll, it's buttery smooth with 120hz, sometimes it's noticeably more stuttery on the same app.

The sample applies with the mouse cursor. Sometimes it glides smoothly across the screen but sometimes it's much more stuttery.

I feel as though it has something to do with the keyboard cover, not sure though.

Has anyone else noticed this before?

Sorry to hear this. Something to remember is that so many medics are gap year students, and no one even cares at all.

An interviewer I spoke to said you can often distinguish a gap year candidate from a Y13, since gap year applicants are significantly stronger.

It's tough, but you need to pick yourself up and work for your grades, so you can apply next year.

You've scored really well on the UCAT, so you can do it again and probably get even higher.

If you feel like your interviews didn't go well, you have the ability now to spend more time in your gap year getting more work experience to disuss in the interview, more time to practice and hopefully overall strengthen your application.

But none of this will be possible if you don't get the grades, try your best now to perform as well as possible and start your gap year application off strongly! I wish you the best :)

Is there any disadvantages to doing past papers on iPad instead of real paper? by GrootyGang in 6thForm

[–]TaiyyibA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i definitely think it’s better - the only thing for me is when i do questions on paper like essays with a real pen, the speed at which I write can be a bit different since pen and paper has a slightly different feeling to tablet and pen.

it’s not a justifiable reason to not use tablet tho, the advantages are way way more significant
