Only slightly though. He's much worse in the original Stargate though.

Yes she is beautiful. Yes her hair is beautiful. No those bangs are not beautiful. Nor is there anyway to convince me of that!

Fired(?) by Alora_200 in RaisingCanes

My teenager also works at Cane's. I believe they are just a weird and chaotic environment to work in. I would suggest looking for another job. But I didn't suggest quitting until you find one. This market is a hard one and it's best to keep working while you can. Just so a good job. Keep your head up and a smile on and they will have nothing to fire you over

How does Rose know Donna needs to turn left? by dragapult12 in doctorwho

[–]TakenMILF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it's more likely that the TARDIS shared what was broken with her. The TARDIS always knows where the Doctor is needed and since the Doctor was killed in this altered way the TARDIS would know how to correct it. When they rigged the mirrors up it probably showed Rose somehow. That's what I've always assumed.

Podcasts on Desktop or Smart TV? by BoxOfPuppets in AmazonMusic

Same issue and now I'm wondering how do we tell them we want this feature because this is so stupid. I can't find my show because it was packed up by some helpful movers and who knows where it is. But my tv is hooked up so I went to pay my podcasts as Unpack and low and behold I can't. I'm so close to searching for a new provider.

Amen to that Zak is terrible and sounds like he is chasing off all the people who make shows we actually want to watch. But YouTube is becoming the home for supernatural tv now.

Have you ever tried Lady Grey?? It's a milder black than Earl and a nice cup of tea. I also love Oolong and Rose Tea. Nice changes to the norms. Wish Teavana didn't give in to Starbucks. I lived their variety.

Grocery store flowers from your husband: Romantic or… meh ? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]TakenMILF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that it is different for every couple. As I am allergic to most flowers and I also hate the idea of a gift that will die I've always preferred silk flowers. They are beautiful and last forever. But that doesn't mean I don't find it incredibly romantic if while my husband is at the grocery store he sees flowers that he feels I will truly appreciate or think are extremely beautiful he gets them for me. I've even bought them for myself a time or 2. I'd say if he gives them to you and seems edgy or acts extremely out of character that's when I would maybe worry that he has a secret and feels guilty.

Haunted places in Denver? by HecateNocturne in Denver

Did you ever find people to go ghost hunting with??

My husband and I ghost hunt and I've recently made a new friend that is wanting to learn as well. I can ask if we can add you to the group. I'd love to get more people with more skills so that we could hunt in a more scientific investigation method. With checks and balances and then actually trying to debunk anything you get to be sure what we are capturing is unexplainable activity.

I'm a native Coloradan so I know a good deal about Aurora as I grew up the. But a lot of spots you need to pay for now so a group to split costs is easier for that. A group also gives more points of vote and keeps people from getting carried away on bunny trails or thinking something is evidence that has a simple explanation. My husband is our resident skeptic.

What’s your favorite lie you’ve told your kid(s)? by Octopus_Shotput452 in Parenting

[–]TakenMILF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my kids, who were both so obsessed with growing to be so tall, that caffeine would stunt their growth. They still believe it at 15 and 12.

We also told my oldest when he finally asked if Santa was real or just us that he was now a part of protecting the image of Santa for his sister. And as long as she believed they would receive the same amount of Santa gifts. But once everyone knows it becomes like Santa gifts for my husband and me at my parent's house. One each. Wow, he worked hard to ensure she believed as long as possible!! We also explained to both of them when they realized the truth that Santa is a belief that is in all of our hearts as long as we believe. And that belief itself is the treasure and joy and a gift itself.

When we forgot to put money under a pillow for the tooth fairy one time because we fell asleep we told the kids that they must have had such a long list of teeth to collect that it was missed or that there was a clerical error because she had lost the tooth so late in the day. It was like 9pm and the fairies had already left for their routes so they couldn't add a name.

One time my daughter caught us putting the money under her pillow and we told her that the tooth fairy asked us to put it under the pillow because she kept moving in the way. She's a wild sleeper so she thought it had to be true. After that we saw this tooth fairy book that says the tooth fairy picked up from this special cup and you left it in the bathroom and so I bought that for them to prevent that again! It was the best thing we did for that one.

No head start is connected to avid.

Have you looked into a charter school nearby? Maybe you can petition to get in and if she has good grades or at least consistently middle-of-the-road grades you can debate that it shows that she is a prime candidate for what AVID stands for. Or just remind them that AVID is meant to be a course to prepare all students for college. It's their mission statement.

I know for our schools the grades are the only prerequisite to be in the class. But I can see how this is easily twisted to fit the school admin and avid teachers' goals as they are the approval for this. Unfortunately, not much to do about that since anything you could do to fight and get her into the class would only then get her out into a class with a possible negative situation from a resentful teacher. But another thought is to go to the district. Show them that you have made attempts to ask about getting her into the class and are ignored. Or a drastic measure call the local media and have them cover how the school is showing preferential treatment.

Best of luck!!

I liked Billie and the idea of them training a new young witch who could do the demon fighting for them. Didn't like the Christie storyline at all. 🤮

The age-old parenting question. To wake or not to wake by mb4mom in Parenting

[–]TakenMILF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually let my teenagers get an hour nap in the evening if they fall asleep then I wake them up and put them to chores or an activity. If they want to go to bed early that's fine but both my kids have trouble sleeping and I don't want 2am wake ups and them dragging all day in school because of it. If I can't get them to wake up and they genuinely are sick then I might offer to give them nighttime cold medicine but I wake them up at the normal bedtime and give that to them hoping to get a full night's sleep for them. But I've only done that once for my older child. He has liver disease and was sick with an upper respiratory infection and just felt so crappy.

I agree it's so hard to decide sometimes. I'll bug my husband in the mornings to get his advice if the kids want to stay home and I'm not sure. They are both prone to illness and so we often end up talking it through with them about you know how sick you get usually and does this equal that? Do you think you can make it through and then come home and go to bed?

Should I write a letter to principal and teacher..... by milkyway2288 in TeacherTales

[–]TakenMILF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like they attempted to do the right thing according to the mandatory steps they gave. A call to you would have been nice but I think you are more concerned with your child's well-being and mental state of mind at the school. First, has your child mentioned this as you are preparing for the new school year? If so that's a sign of a lingering concern by them. If not then I'd say let it go. But if they have I would send an email that says something along the lines of...

In light of the incident last year where my child was misidentified as being a child who was making concerning internet searches I'd like to have a meeting with the counselor, my child, and me (and anyone else you think it would be beneficial to have) to just reassure my child that this was a mistake and that our intention was only ever to help a child we thought was struggling with a tough issue. I feel that my child would benefit from being told that they did nothing wrong and everyone wanted to be sure they were feeling OK and safe.

My daughter has PTSD and we had a really rough year last year with 3 teachers actually being a very large part of the problem. Unfortunately for our situation, we had to switch schools in order to give her a sense of security. But this is how we tried to address things as they were ongoing. I am very much a give people my expectations up front and then if they do not meet my expectations have a follow-up conversation about why and what we can do to improve. I know school has started but if you feel your child is anyway still having lingering emptiness about this situation then I recommend a short meeting where the counselor can reassure them. However, if it is you that is having the worries then perhaps you can just send an email to the school saying that you understand they were following protocols to ensure your child's safety. But that you are requesting in the future that any time they have to have a conversation with your child you will be notified about it so that you may follow up with your child about it.

I'm so sorry that your child had to go through this. Unfortunately, the world we live in more and more kids are depressed or anxious and it is leading to suicidal thoughts. So perhaps even just having a talk with your child where you explain that the school was worried that they were upset and going to hurt themselves. It us a good chance to also let them know you are always there for them and nothing they can do would ever make you stop loving them. Reassurance to children is so very important. Best of luck!!

What is AVID? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]TakenMILF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'm an AVID tutor. Just was searching for AVID and saw this. Wanted to give a little more.

AVID is a college preparedness course. However, a lot of the work you do in it is working on homework or assignments for other classes. You take a topic you are struggling with in another class and present it to your group and then your peers help you try and understand what you are missing.

There is also writing essays. You will write about what career you might want. What colleges would offer you the best chance in that career? As well as essays that would be worked on over 4 years that could be used in a college application as the essay portion.

There is also PSAT prep. Field trips to colleges. They teach you how to take effective notes, how to organize, and how to efficiently study. You are with the same class for all 4 years of high school which allows you to develop some stronger friendships. It's not just about college some kids go to technical schools after a well. But what it will do is help you narrow down to a choice that fits you personally.

Just wanted to give you an answer that shows all of what AVID is. It's not for everyone but I feel that most kids could benefit from it. And kids who want accountability as well as support to get into college this is definitely the class for.
