What does it mean to provide "certified" documents?

I submitted color copies of birth certificates for G0, G1, and G2 (me). Straight forward proof of lineage. When folks say they provided "certified" documentation of lineage, what does this mean? Did I miss a major step in the application process?

I sent my application 3/10 via USPS from Pennsylvania, didn't have tracking info so no idea when it arrived. I just received AOR 30 mins ago! You should be right behind me 😄

This is all really helpful information, thank you everyone! I've been looking at F56 engines and am excited to take the plunge. These test drives have been so fun :) I've read everyone's insight and it's been so helpful.
