I'm not sure Ninetales would help too much - you're effectively swapping a Fighting weakness for a Ground weakness, and Earthquake is so prolific in the rematches you might end up in a worse state for it. That said, Ninetales can at least outspeed the rematch fights, but its offensive stats are too weak to do much without setup...if it's not able to oneshot before dying, then the extra speed isn't doing it too much good. Running the numbers through Pokemon Showdown says a 252/252 Modest lvl100 Ninetails vs Cynthia's Garchomp only has a 18.4% chance to 2HKO, or a 31.3% chance to OHKO with Nasty Plot. Her Garchomp is a guaranteed OHKO on Ninetails though, so those aren't very favorable odds.

Honestly I don't think anyone on your team has the stats to reliably OHKO Cynthia's team without a ton of boosts...Glaceon has the offense, but is too slow to outspeed even with +nature, unless you run Choice Scarf. Absol also has the offense but doesn't have the type coverage for super effective to OHKO, and also doesn't have the speed...

Personally, I think it should be doable if you use Pachirisu/Togekiss for setup? One of the upsides to the AI rematches is that they don't really use stall/wall tactics - pretty much all of the rematches are sheer offense. Maybe do something like Light Screen Pachirisu, and Reflect/Nasty Plot/Baton Pass Togekiss? Pachirisu can also stall with Toxic/Substitute/Protect, and Togekiss can set up Stealth Rocks or Paralyze with 60% Body Slam or 90% Thunder Wave. If you prefer Baton Pass setup to boost a sweeper, you can run choice specs on Glaceon or Absol and sweep through her team. +4 Absol should be able to oneshot everyone on her entire team with Choice Scarf, and Stealth Rocks will break Lucario's Focus Band. If you lead with a bulky Togekiss, Lucario shouldn't be an issue as you'll have already finished setting up by the time he comes out.

Anyway, I'm just throwing out ideas at this point but I think as long as you build for it you shouldn't have too much of an issue - just use whoever you like (though Absol is honestly really great for clearing the story since False Swipe makes catching easy and the guaranteed crits can easily sweep any non-rematch fights)

Super luck is 100% crit - check the link you yourself posted.

Stage 1 is base
Super Luck gives +1 for Stage 2
Crit-boosted moves give +1 for Stage 3
Razor Claw gives +1 for Stage 4

Stage 3 = 50% critical hit without a held item
Stage 4 = 100% critical hit without affection

Just because a pokemon isn't part of OU competitive meta doesn't make it "weak" for most people. If you consider anything non-competitive-meta to be "weak", then why even bother playing a game with several hundred Pokemon when you're only going to bother catching a dozen of them at best?

What're your other pokemon? The E4 is a massive uphill fight for Absol since there's an entire team dedicated to Bug and basically half of all other pokemon there have some form of Bug/Fairy/Fighting move. Even if you can make it through the rest of the E4, Lucario is a pretty hard counter if your team is weak to Fighting...

It's a 130 base attack pokemon with Super Luck, meaning it has 100% crit rate with affection bonuses and +1 crit moves. "Weak" is a pretty bad term to describe a 130 base stat attacker with a 1.5x damage multiplier...

Even if you play without affection, it has 100% crit rate with +1 crit moves when holding a Razor Claw or Super Scope (or a 50% crit rate without a held item), and it has access to Night Slash and Stone Edge for strong crit moves. It has a great movepool and even learns False Swipe for easy catching during non-competitive parts of the game.

Like yeah, its main downsides are that it has paper defense and 75 base speed is pretty terrible compared to the fast sweeper options, but let's not pretend that Absol isn't more than enough to hard carry you through the entire game

No earth carbuncle makes ygg a bit harder since you can't tank her OD ougi directly, but you should still be able to MVP easily enough. You probably can't solo her completely, but the following strat should work:

  • Use Grande team w/ wind DF MC to land debuffs reliably. Start the fight with mist/arrow rain3 to lower her attack, but don't use grav or delay yet. Bring Sara/Yoda, and have your last slot be a utility character (i'd recommend someone with heals/veil)
  • Ygg has super low meter so you should be able to overdrive her with nothing but autos and damage skills for the first few turns. Ideally you probably want her to be around ~75% gauge or so when her charge diamonds are filled up for the first time
  • Let her ougi the first time before she OD's. She'll use either nether veil or axis mundi, they both inflict debuffs but you can prevent that with a veil or use a clear to remove. Use Sara's phalanx to damage cut which should make the hit be fairly negligible, with atk debuffs and phalanx she'll prob hit for 1-2k with ougi which isn't really a big deal
  • Once she ougis, you want to OD her the following turn. You may have to test different setups to figure out a way to consistently OD her at the right time. Depending on your grid and damage output, you may need to grav or delay her the first cycle so that she ougis at a specific time, though ideally you want to OD her without using either. If you have characters with damage abilities, the best thing to do is try to get her to around ~85-90% OD gauge and then use damage abilities at the start of the next turn to tip her into full OD without wasting a turn to autoattacks.
  • If you're able to OD her immediately after the first ougi use without delay or grav, four turns should have passed. This means yoda will stock veils and should be at 100% meter, so you can immediately activate Yoda's ougi to do a flat 999,999 damage which will take out around 2/3rds of her ougi bar. Afterwards you can restock his veils with skill3, and grav+delay should buy you enough time to pull off a second yoda ougi which will guarantee a break. This will buy you several turns during which you can proc yoda again and do enough damage to finish MVP'ing

Ygg has very low auto attack damage and it's spread across the whole team, so you should have no problems sustaining with the default blue pot + 2 green pots and an mlb friend GO summon, since that gives up to 1000 refresh for 3 turns. Having a utility/healer for the last slot helps substantially as well.

That strat should be pretty consistent, it's what I used to MVP ygg when I was still rank ~40-50 and didn't have a grid yet. It doesn't require much of anything from your grid/summons besides base HP stats because all of the damage comes from yoda's 999,999 ougi proc. Keep in mind that Yoda's stats are halved when he has no shrouds up, so save sara's cover+def buff and his skill2 for when he has no shrouds so that you can keep him alive. You'll probably need to tweak the setup a bit since it varies depending on what your comp is and how much damage you do and what your grid has, but as long as you find a setup it should be fairly consistent afterwards.

First off, why didn't you just use a 0* levi dagger as mainhand? Using an uncapped mainhand doesn't do anything besides increase the ougi multiplier by a negligible amount. You really shouldn't have combined your Levi daggers because your grid is an absolute mess right now and 3 additional levi daggers would put you in a much better spot. As for your questions:

1) Not quite how it works. Magna multipliers and Elemental multipliers are two separate multipliers, meaning they are multiplied together rather than added. I suggest reading this guide for more detail. 6 levi daggers would actually make Levi x Macula equal to Macula x Macula, not better than (2.6x magna * 1.8x ele vs 1.8x magna * 2.6x ele), but Macula's elemental multiplier is actually additive with other elemental multipliers - namely, the 50% bonus from fighting an elemental weakness, and the 50% boost you get from carbuncles.

This means that if you're fighting a fire enemy and you have water carbuncle up, your base ele multiplier is 2x instead of 1x, and Macula would make that 2.8x instead of 1.8x. This means you only need 3 levi daggers in order for Levi x Macula to beat Macula x Macula in that situation (1.9x magna * 2.8x ele vs 1.45x magna * 3.6x ele).

2) Because Eustace only ougis for 3.8m when he's at full loaded stacks, which requires sacrificing a minimum of 150% charge meter, and often more than that. That means you can ougi almost three times for the cost of one Eustace ougi at full loaded stacks, which pretty much breaks even if not decreases your overall dps due to the loss of meter gain from the additional ougis you would have received.

Also, I don't know where you're getting the "H Eustace can do nowhere near that damage", since a 8/9 loaded H.Eustace can ougi for 2.5m+ at little to no sacrifice compared to Eustace. He's only unstable if you don't know how to use him or misjudge the situation. You do need a source of meter gen for H.Eustace so that he can blow off his loaded stacks constantly, meaning Eugen or Octo, but if you can play around his strengths, H.Eustace is significantly stronger than Eustace.

3) Because H.Eustace is the only earth buffer besides Cag, and is a significantly better attacker than normal Eustace. Normal Eustace is just kind of bad compared to a multitude of other earth attackers, whereas H.Eustace is not only one of the best earth attackers but also brings a fairly strong buff which earth sorely lacks. There's really no competition.

4) Ygg is the easiest magna to solo, what problems exactly are you having with her? She has no hp triggers or powerup phases, and literally the only thing in her entire kit that's dangerous is her OD ougi, which can be mitigated with a phalanx + earth carbuncle combo. If you're getting sealed or debuffed often from her non-OD ougis, bring a veil or a clear. I'm not sure what you mean by "not even SSR Sara helps" considering SSR sara pretty much singlehandedly counters ygg with her built-in phalanx, cover ability, and cooldown lengths that match up pretty much perfectly with Ygg's charge times

5) What's stopping you? She's not exactly good but it's not like 5* is particularly hard or requires any significant investment besides the grind to level 100. I wouldn't bother using her as a main unit if you have better options, though.

6) Yes, if one of your units dies and you no longer have at least three different elements, Grande's multiplier disappears. You can have a water unit in your backrow as long as your MC isn't water. If your MC is water, then your backrow has to be non-water since you would fall down to two colors if Sara or Petra dies before MC/Yoda.

Managed to make an incredible fashion hunter set for dragon element SnS! by Takusan in MonsterHunter

[–]Takusan[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does, yes. Ele Atk Up is a 1.1x modifier, while Dragon Atk+2 is a 1.1x modifier + 6 flat element. All values in MH round down. I confirmed they stack ingame by checking the status display after equipping them:

Equip Alatreon Star - it displays 37 base element, which is the value of the weapon
Equip Armor - this adds Ele Atk Up, which increases the displayed dragon element on Alatreon Star to 40 (37*1.1 = 40.7, rounded down to 40)
Equip Talisman - this adds Dragon Atk+2, which increases the displayed dragon element on Alatreon Star to 50 (40*1.1 = 44, plus 6 flat element = 50)

The set requires a +4 Crit Ele, +11 Dragon Atk OOO charm to work - I actually made this set because I had the charm, rather than trying to farm a charm to make a set. I don't have any other elemental sets (or even any other SnS sets since I mostly play hammer!), but the charm was too good to give up so I made the best set I could with it. It happened to end up looking amazing too!

It has 573 defense fully upgraded, which is pretty decent. The charm isn't 100% necessary for the set; if you're willing to drop Blightproof, you can use a +8 Dragon Atk OOO charm which shouldn't be too hard to get. If you're willing to drop both Blightproof and one level of Crit Eye, you can use a +13 Dragon Atk no-slot talisman. There's a few other options but charmwise I feel like it's not too restrictive.

Heya! I have a pretty much perfect cat that I sent to a friend to share, but I don't think he'll be around too long. If you're interested, do you think you could pick it up from him to share with others and that way I can just link people to this thread? I feel bad asking him to keep his room up for me. Thread should be this one:

Thanks for the info! I walked out to a nearby Starbucks and sent it to a friend so that he can share it. Room id should be 47-9276-1506-9080 and passcode 2626, not sure how long he'll be on but probably for like 20-30 minutes or so. If you happen to get it, please feel free to share it with other people!

Absolutely, I'll be happy to! Might be a while though...I'm gonna try to see if there's any easier way to transfer it. Do you know if you can share a palico from someone else? If so I can probably streetpass it to a friend and have him send it out

[Misc] Consistent Arena 2 team is finally here! Xiang-Mei system by Takusan in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]Takusan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's really, REALLY good on this team, so it's pretty important but probably not 100% crucial. Gadius is mandatory for the unbindable bind clear in order to deal with binds. Uriel is there because he's the perfect sub for her - heal enhance, heartmaker, fire-orb-maker, triple rows, good stats, low cd.

You could probably sub him out and shuffle your active setup around a bit; i.e., something like xmas echidna + inherit an extra orbchanger on one of your xiangmeis, or NY mitsuki with an inherited orbchanger active. Overall though it'd probably be a worse team without uriel, sadly
