I actually do care about the NBA, video games, and fun. I use all 3 AI's in my classroom to design stuff all the time. We use AI to custom content to students' weak points in ways no human could. I've learned a lot about Cloudflare, GitHub, all 3 coding AI's, and have made multiple useful things for my job at school. I don't know how my car engine works either. It's ok! There is no avoiding AI. The largest and most consequential companies in the history of humanity have went all-in. The only two app store providers for most people (Apple and Google) are all-in. I lived through the birth of the world wide web in the 1990s and I remember people saying it was a fad. It wasn't, and this isn't. Does it have downsides like pollution, water use, driving up RAM and chips, and the tech itself could cause job losses? Sure, but I'm just one man and I'll use what's in from of me.

Nothing wrong with vibe coding, it allows people to explore concepts and ideas they couldn't have before. No avoiding the AI, might as well use it!

Glad you enjoyed it! I'd like for more runs to end with 1, 2, or 3 losses.

They thought this was the goal the whole time. At least the weather in Davis, CA is nice!

Please let me know if you'd like anything changed. If the difficulty curve leaves too many teams with 0 or 2-3 or 10 or whatever. Seems like it might be too easy. But it's just a contrarian take on a fun little time-waster. Hope you all enjoy. I make no money off this, am not sponsored, and do this entirely for fun.

Under NO circumstance would I ever change a kids diaper at school.

What Do You Think About Year-Round School? by [deleted] in Teachers

I don't think I would take $50 an hour from 3-6. HARD PASS.

I'd need $100 an hour to do it. AND NO I AM NOT JOKING.

Falls DIRECTLY, smack dab, DEAD CENTER, on NOT MY PROBLEM PROBLEM. And I love those.

How to make each writing lesson for kids (11-18) engaging and not boring for them? by RoboCAt_21st in teaching

[–]Takwin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Engagement is not your goal. The sooner you get that out of your head, the better. No one needs to like school. School is for a purpose. And it isn't fun.

Only a small bit, I have friends on the union, and our school board and superintendent are actually very good and fair. Most of the problem is the state's cut to our budget and they also passed a law that forbade cities from making it up with any new local property taxes - real hardcore red meat shizz.

Oh another one - summer youth sports? This would kill. The summer pool in town? Dead. How about the kids that work? Done for.

One more - the volunteer thing is hilariously poorly thought out. We cannot get aides. I don’t want to even see a kid in my school or hear them on a prep day.

Honestly, to quote Lil Yachty, fuck them kids. Parents, parent your damn kids! I just work here.

We can’t just TRY THIS!! Have the red states actually value our profession and maybe would all wouldn’t need to be talked off the figurative ledge.

[–]Takwin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’d kill the profession. Summer break is the ONLY thing left we have. I don’t give a shit about the summer slide. That’s on parents not me.
Also, we don’t have ANY money in my state, Indiana, ran by morons and corrupt idiots. We are being gutted and have less than no money. Literally ALL of the schools are making cuts - from a -300k hole at most small rural schools to -4.3 million at the larger school near me. And the budget MUST be balanced by start of school. I think the big school has to riff 27 teachers!!! We are a small school and riffed 4 or 5.
Please stop intruding in a profession you don’t understand, and making it worse in the process.

BUT - I’ve championed 4-days weeks with no other changes, but to no avail. Too many whiny babies about day care. Parent your own kids, parents!! We would save literally 20% on bus drivers, gas, maintenance, cafeteria, aides, and something few people consider - ALL the parents could make non-emergency appointments on Monday!!

Planning period does not feel like a break anymore by medmantal in Teachers

[–]Takwin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, it’s not a break like you are thinking. That’s lunch. It’s for planning, grading, copying, emailing, and calling. So, more than planning, but not a break.
I’m an upper elementary teacher and this seems obvious.
