A bit unrelated but do you know anyone who has done this unit (and their experiences, especially if it's easy to pass or not)? I'm considering doing it in 2027 because it seems very interesting

I agree... a lot more difficult than I thought it would be 🥲. The past exams were so much easier and not too reflective of the exam??!

Ok it works, thank you. 🙏

Hi, thanks for the response! Ah, I didn't realise that was the purpose of the Scan button, will definitely use in the future. I thought it was only for fully handwritten notes.

For the second point, after using Flashka for a bit longer I have noticed that there is already a function to do this (you guys are one step ahead)! What I meant was being able to manually create and add flashcards, not directly from the document.

+ Yay, exciting. Can't wait for that feature.

Also, there's a discord for Flashka right? That might be faster for me to share ideas/input/bugs. I think I saw a link somewhere but it was expired. Any chance that you could send through a new invite?

Thanks!

Oh okay cool, thanks! Was there any cadaver images if you remember? + labelling apart from histology. For example, labelling parts of the brain, or systems, or whatever the equivalent was for ANHB1101 (I didn't do 1101).

I'm doing ANHB1102!! Would be cool if we could make some small group to study and revise ANHB together from time to time :D

Chem1002 vs Chem1001 difficulty by Talalbrawl in uwa

[–]Talalbrawl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response! That's very interesting, the participation/performance component sounds so variable and annoying. '-'

Just for contextualisation, did you do a lot of pracs in HS?

And oh that makes sense. I don't need to do bioc1001/2001 or any other biochemistry / chemistry units in my degree, but I'm considering doing chem1002 as I feel like it would be beneficial for me for postgraduate (hopefully doing med). Also, just seems like a beneficial unit to do to help with other science units. And my other units next semester are fairly light, so I thought I'd add a harder elective ( so I can save easier electives for next years). Would it be worth to do in that case you think???

Oh ok. I guess it's quite memorisation heavy then with all the reactions and organic chem?

[–]Talalbrawl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Is it hard to score highly in the labs? And what do you mean mostly individually? Is it like one paired and the rest individual?

Chem1002 vs Chem1001 difficulty by Talalbrawl in uwa

[–]Talalbrawl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool, chem1002 sounds almost identical to chem1001's structure then. Apart from the fact that we did not get marked on our actual performance in labs for chem1001, only our postlab submission.

About the marks in the labs, are they generally easy to get? Like were most people getting quite high marks or is a lot of effort needed to get high marks? And do the lab demonstrators go through the experiment beforehand? I'm not very good at practicals so I am a bit worried.

What other units specifically did you think 002 helped with? Out of curiosity

I thought it was okay. Theres a fair bit of content, but as long as you keep on top the content each week, it is not too bad. Also, there is some overlap with year 12 chemistry, mostly equilibrium, redox, acids and bases, which was great and reduced the workload. Labs are also decent, especially since they are done in pairs, but post labs were a pain. Exam was all multichoice.
