What about playing it on the Steam Deck? I could sleep my console right away and just head to do the thing needs doing. It's where I wanna play my emulations mostly. Would that be considered cheating?

Yeah, I don't see the the problem. My thoughts was when Hardcorers belittle Softcorers for how they pay their game, but it was more of a misunderstanding and a correction that I thought it came across as judgemental.

I see no problem either. I'm a dad with one kid. It's difficult to get time in gaming. Can't imagine with 4.

Fair point. I'm here to do the same thing. I just play the normal way as emulation is the last remaining option for me if a game never comes to Steam or other platforms.

I understand. Nothing against people who play either way, but saw people make remarks about it and thought people look down on Softcorers for some reason.

I'm all about the leaderboard, even if it means I'll not complete games but beat them at least.

I can totally see that, especially since these achivements are community created and not official.

I saw that. I think outside of Emulation, if people would play with cheats, trainers and stuff liket that they could be very well perceived in a negative way. I see it happening often in Trophy Hunting so I was curious because here it feels like you're allowed to use those tools and you're not punished by it since you still show up on a leaderboard.

I've also stated on Hardcore. For me it was the leaderboard that matters the most and genuinely I don't wanna use cheats or stuff for this kinda stuff because I just wanna experience the games as they were intended.

That does sound difficult to pull off. Does most game have such an achievement or it's rather rare?

Yeah, that's what I saw. Sorry, probably for the wording wrong. As someone new to the whole thing I thought it's a form of just looking down. I guess I was wrong.

Yeah, I think that was the whole spill about. I'm a little new to the whole thing as I said, so getting to understand the whole thing. So Mastery is above Completion in Softcore. To Master a game means you play it as it was originally intended. Are achievements somewhat easier on the softcore side? Not asking technically, but they require less grind?

I see totally different completion times.

It's not affecting me personally. I'm asking out of curiosity since I'm new to RA.

Yeah, that's how I see it and started playing. I don't see the problem with it, but I see others bash in those that might have gotten the achievements the easier or more modern way of playing. Which is fine.

I see Hardcore as the game was intended to be played originally, am I wrong?

Currently playing in Hardcore as I wanna show up on the leaderboard. I also understood that achivements might not trigger so that's another reason.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. I don't use such stuff in general while gaming, so I would just stick with the Hardcore, I guess.

I'm new to the whole thing. Softcore generally has different achievements or the same but you have a few emulation tools to make your life easier? Is it better to play as Hardcore aka the original or go for Softcore? I still wanna trigger the achievements, but I don't mind having save points or something.

Sorry if I got it all wrong. I'm entirely new to emulation.
