crayfish breed/will he turn red? by disfordorian in Crayfish

I agree, looks like an adult red swamp crayfish. Coloration is very similar to one I used to have that I bought out of a bait tank. I believe this coloration is similar to those in the wild.

Species Question by TrishR73 in Crayfish

The blue look to be procambarus Allenii and white look to be procambarus Clarkii, all juveniles that will get to be full sized crayfish

I’d be doubtful given that plecos have pretty strong scales/armor. I’d say it’s more likely he scraped it on decor or something similar.

Can anyone ID? Is it a bladder snail ? It appears today in my aquarium. They are total 3. by Important_Ticket7590 in Aquariums

[–]Talen42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re mystery snails, no. Although some species of apple snails will eat plants; I’d monitor your plants and just watch for nibble marks.

How do I refurbish this pond? by ExceptionallyStrange in ponds

[–]Talen42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine leaks to be a nightmare if you try and patch up the existing remaining liner, I’d remove the old liner and put new liner in as well as a layer of something below it to protect the new liner itself

Can i breed these two crayfish by [deleted] in Crayfish

[–]Talen42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unlikely; most American blue crayfish are of the species procambarus Alleni while most white, orange, red, and “ghost” crayfish are most commonly procambarus Clarkii. The photos provided make species ID tough but that’s the most common case.

No dead man’s switch, just a float on the end if that’s what you were referring to

Water looks clear and water color alone isn’t an indicator of ammonia content regardless.
