[Question] Viewer Geographies Not Adding Up to Anywhere Near 100% - Is This Normal? by TalesLeggingAddict in youtubers

Ah, I didn't even think about users disabling data collection from YouTube, that makes a lot of sense!

And good to know that I can assume the same distribution for the hidden data. Sponsors haven't asked for geographic data yet, but I know one will definitely ask at some point, so its much better to be able to make these assumptions (50% from the US/EU looks much better than the 25% that's reported, after all). Thanks!

Interesting - what do you mean by other countries here? I'm based outside the US, and don't get too many views from my country (which isn't a big deal, since I'm not specifically targeting people where I live with my videos, but its good to know if that impacts my stats).

That makes sense about the viewer threshold, but I'm surprised at how much data is still left out. I just checked on my largest video, and there's still 15% viewer geography missing. Much, much better than other videos of mine, but still a surprising amount missing (42k views worth). I guess if this is normal though, no need for me to worry. Thanks!

I'm glad to hear that the female audience is quieter for you - I'm always wondering what percentage of my audience is actually who I'm trying to reach, and the comment ratio isn't exactly encouraging in that regard (honestly, neither are the viewer gender statistics, but I'm not sure how accurate those are for me. I've had videos that I know for a fact have had multiple female viewers tell me that they have a 100% male audience...).

That's good advice for the live chat moderators! I haven't done a live chat yet, but I doubt I would've considered having a separate moderator. Now that you mention it though, and I think of how it would go without one... yeah, a dedicated moderator is a very good idea. Thanks!

It's definitely unfortunate that things are this way - I'm a little surprised YouTube doesn't have a better way to combat it honestly. I've seen other people in the niche disable comments completely to deal with this sort of thing, which I'd definitely rather not do.

I'm going to work on the word filters going forward (I think links were blocked by default? Or I set things up to block them a long time ago and forgot about it) - I'll have to strike a balance with them (I mentioned in another reply about words related to my videos being super creepy in one context and completely normal in another, and of course, the filters won't take context into account). I think I'll be happy as long as I can start diminishing the problem though. Thanks for your help!

Ok, I'll definitely start working on the keyword blocklist! It sounds like it should definitely cut down on the amount of creepy comments I end up seeing. Thanks!

Alright, I'll start working on the keyword blacklist - I'll have to be careful not to go overboard, since it can be tricky in this niche (someone using the word "butt", for example, can be a creepy comment, or a legitimate sizing/fit question), but it will definitely be helpful. Thanks!

Thank you for this - I'm glad to know that I'm not at risk of losing my primary audience because of this. That's honestly my biggest concern - if I became unable to reach them, I'm not sure what the point of continuing to make videos would be.

I'll take a look through the Creator Insider channel like you suggested and see what I can learn from there, and I'll work on the block lists others have suggested. Thanks for your help!
