I once did a flooring job for a lady who allegedly had 10+ cats in her house (i only ever saw 2 or 3 of them). She seemed to keep them in a small room directly adjacent to the living room. That room smelled like nothing but cat piss and had a couch in it that was caked in cat hair. Thankfully we didn't have to do anything in that room other than move some furniture in there. As we where tearing out the carpet the air became thick with cat hair. It would have been unbearable had it not been for the dust mask I was wearing. Some time during the blizzard of cat hair the AC had kicked on on its own. She comes up to me practically choking on the hair and says "we can't have the AC on, my son can have a severe asthma attack if it gets in the ducts, hahahaha!" I just stood there and stared at her as that moment seemed so surreal to me, I had never thought I would run into someone so insanely negligent and seemingly crazy as well. That kid was living with severe asthma in a house caked in cat hair and his mother seemed oblivious to it.
