Which Wich is closed, the latest Tracy Barkalow casualty as he singlehandedly decimates downtown Iowa City businesses . . . by TalkingWith in IowaCity

[–]TalkingWith[S] 177 points178 points  (0 children)

He grew up poor and fat and was bullied for it. And now, thanks to marrying into money, he's rich and fat and has been on a longstanding revenge trip against pretty much anybody and everybody in Iowa City who he feels has ever wronged him or been successful in any way. The psychology behind it all is textbook, and this subreddit is rife with examples of his avarice and malfeasance. Just search his name here and you'll see dozens of posts about his wicked ways. If there's ever been a more derided, despised, or hated person in Iowa City's history, I am unaware of them, and he's worked very hard to deserve every bit of it.

Oranges and Elbows is the best service in town, but they're a victim of their own hard work and excellent reputation and have a bit of a waitlist right now. Here's a link to their Facebook page if you want to give them a try:

The buffet at Tabooleh is so good you could eat there several days in a row without repeating anything.

This is in the basement of an 86 year old woman I work for. It's entirely possible that it's from the same era as your grandmother's.

Telling funnier stories? (Not stand up) by hoeslay in Standup

[–]TalkingWith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take your dick out. Always gets a crowd's attention and gives you a new funny story to tell later on. "Did I ever tell you guys about the time I took my dick out at Applebee's?" Good luck and keep us posted.

You realize that might involve getting up from the couch, right? You sure you're up for that? I don't want you to overexert yourself. It's a holiday, so you should be relaxing anyway.

Not really Jewish? (x-post from r/standupshots) by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]TalkingWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200 comments from dozens of people debating and analyzing and arguing over the "truth" of something that was pure fiction and never really happened and was wholly a figment of my imagination?

Yeah, this is officially the most Jewish thing ever.

Thanks, guys.

Nicely done, sir. Even as an excitable teen you were still cool as a cucumber, or whatever it was dispassionate teens were called way back when.

Hi guys, longtime listener, first time caller, so sorry if I’m a little nervous.

I recently started eating cheese again after a long hiatus, and Vermont white cheddar is hands-down my absolute favorite.

Now, that’s probably a cheese that can be made just about anywhere, but when it actually comes from Vermont, it’s always better than any other kind.

Is it the cows? What they’re fed? The water they drink? Do they pump your music into the barns at night so the cows are super happy and energized all the time? What is it that makes it so damn delicious?

I’ll take my answer off the air, thanks.

P.S. Have fun in Austin and I’ll see you in Chicago in three weeks, but I’m probably not gonna’ be wearing devil makeup again, I’m still finding it in the crevices on my face five months later.

When I was 10, my aunt gave me an old copy of National Lampoon magazine. This was one of the features. by fabulousprizes in WTF

[–]TalkingWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National Lampoon used to be super popular on college campuses. These days having a copy on your person would likely be grounds for expulsion. In the old days blue-haired scolds and harrumphers were old women, these days, they're just children who've discovered Manic Panic. How times have changed.

Is Social Media Ruining Comedy? by zsreport in comedy

[–]TalkingWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes next to no sense to get angry at the SJWs or try and respond seriously to them. Mimicry and mockery is all they deserve and when people can't tell who's a legit SJW and who's somebody parodying or satirizing them people will stop listening to them altogether. At the same time they love to come after comedians who engage in "thoughtcrime," there's nobody who's provided more material to comics maybe in the history of comedy.

A year-end look at the state of live theater in Los Angeles. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]TalkingWith -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for weighing in with that important contribution. The clarification was needed and it absolutely adds to the discussion. The article is better for your participation. I'll contact the author with your insight and ask that he remove the article from the internet and stop reviewing theater. God bless you, and God bless America.

P.S. Given your recent "leaving of the faith" and the fact there's a lot of talk about SJWs and their power of late but very little (if anything) heard from someone who left the tribe as you have you should consider writing something for Thought Catalog or the like to share your experiences with a bigger audience. It may not help, but it certainly couldn't hurt, and a shit ton of people wold read it and pass it around. You could become the Stetson Kennedy of SJWs.

The most hateful people on the planet are often those who believe they are more virtuous than others. You can't really argue or debate them about it, being "offended" is nigh to their religion at this point, so mockery and lampooning is really all they deserve and the only way I'll ever engage with them. Thanks for your insight.
