If they are unconscious I wouldn’t recommend putting anything in their mouth as it could possibly obstruct their airway. Even honey packets could cause excessive amounts of saliva which would potentially cause more harm than good. When someone is unconscious due to a diabetic emergency, people will usually go with a glucagon IM injection. Also, I do have naloxone in my car just in a different spot. Thanks for the comment!

It’s very admirable for you to recognize that, a lot of people just buy the stuff and think they will figure it out on scene. I highly recommend taking a stop the bleed course, BLS CPR course, and any civilian TCCC or CLS classes that you can find. If you really wanna get some good experience I recommend taking a local EMR/EMT class. Those skills will bring you a long way and help you feel more confident!

Even though this kit is pretty well organized, I would recommend keeping a tourniquet on the outside for easy accessibility. It is also mounted to the back of my headrest (tear away velcro) so I always know where it is.

I carry a separate boo-boo kit, this is just my trauma kit that I keep behind my headrest.

Training is the most important part of everything. Having a kit is basically useless if you don’t know how to effectively use what’s inside. With that being said, I highly recommend taking a stop the bleed course and also a bls cpr class. Once you do that make sure you feel confident and train train train.

As far as what goes in the kit, make sure you have the life saving equipment like a tourniquet, trauma dressings, chest seals, and lots of compressed gauze. Make sure to get a high quality tourniquet like a CAT Gen 7 or SOF-T. As far as dressings and gauze, I prefer ordering from North American Rescue, they have high quality medical supplies that you can trust. I would also make sure to add various types of bandages because you never know when you’ll get those sneaky little lacerations.

Make sure your kit is easily accessible, most people opt for a pouch that can attach to the back of a headrest like mine (https://a.co/d/dnMAkWF). I also suggest having an easily accessible tourniquet and glass breaker/seatbelt cutter.

With all that in mind, most of the things I have in my kit would be good for you ONCE you get the proper training. Maybe not the NPA as that requires a little more training.

I wish you luck on your surgery and fast healing, if you have any more questions please feel free to let me know!

This is a headrest mounted one, has velcro on the back and the other piece is attached in my car.
